Discussion These days air quality is quite important to our healthy life. The purpose of this report is to differentiate particulate concentrations for location at indoor and outdoor. For this experiment, our lecturer has provided a sample data result of air particles reading for 15 minutes with the interval of 1 minute. We are also provided with a video on how to use the DustMate Air Monitor as our instrument to measure the air particles. Furthermore, the result data is a reading of indoor and outdoor air particles. The average total particles value of indoor air is 24.5 µg/m3 , lower than the average total particles of outdoor air value which is 66.7 µg/m3 . The values are differed by 42.2 µg/m3 . In addition, all the indoor value of PM10, PM2.5 and PM1 are also lower than the outdoor value. Moreover, based on New Malaysia Ambient Air Quality Standard provided by Department of Environment (DOE) Malaysia, the PM10 particles of outdoor and indoor air which are 37.8 µg/m3 and 13.7 µg/m3 respectively is lower than 100 µg/m3 for 24-hour averaging time. As well as PM2.5 particles, 14.40 µg/m3 for outdoor and 6.88 µg/m3 for indoor air is also lower than 35 µg/m3 for 24- hour averaging time also. Therefore, both the outdoor and indoor air of the data is considered acceptable by DOE Malaysia. There are three basic strategies that have been determined, such as source removal, dilution, and air-cleaning. In each of these classifications, methods can be selected that will reduce exposure. The appropriate strategies to be used, either separately or in combination, must be selected with respect to other and interacting factors. The control variables identified are spatial requirements, lighting factors, thermal factors, air quality, and acoustic factors. Air-cleaning equipment for residential and commercial applications is generally limited to particle filtration. Some gas and vapour removal equipment are available, primarily for commercial applications.
Conclusion To conclude, we have watched the video on the YouTube link provided by the lecture and learn how to use air particle monitor. We have also analyzed the given sample data thoroughly and made some discussion. We have also compared the air particles concentration at outdoor and indoor. Therefore, the objective of the experiment was achieved successfully. Air particles measurement by using Turnkey Instruments Dustmate is one of the options regarding to indicates the air particles measurement. It shows the value of particles compacted in a certain area based on its exposure to the surrounding. The test is basically crucial to determine the air quality in order to sustaining a healthy environment throughout the world. Lastly, we can conclude that the experiment has been done successfully and it is shown trough the result that we have analyse.
