Two mosques from different time periods reflect the historical depiction of the Ottoman Empire and the Byzantine empire. The first mosque is The Hagia Sophia made during 537AD built by the Architects of Emperor Justinian during the Byzantine Empire. The second mosque is the Sulaymaniyah made during 1558 AD and the architect is Sinan. Built during the reign of Suleyman the Magnificent during the Ottoman Empire. This essay will compare the Hagia Sophia and the Sulaymaniyah mosque. The difference between the two mosques is the domes, windows, and how light is presented. The similarity between the two mosques is elements from the Hagia Sophia seem to be the same as the Sinan. The difference between the two mosques is the domes, windows, and how light is presented. The Hagia Sophia architecture is planned out with one centralized dome and semidomes on the side of the building. The Sulaymaniyah architecture is planned out with one centralized dome and many smaller domes around the building. The difference between the two mosques is the Sulaymaniyah has more domes than the Hagia Sophia. The second difference is the Sulaymaniyah has more windows. The Hagia Sophia has windows on the centralized dome and some windows on the wall. The Sulaymaniyah has windows on every dome and on every wall. The third difference is how light is presented. The Sulaymaniyah is lighter than the Hagia Sophia. By having hanging mosque lamps and reflective metal balls to create a heavenly space. Also, the walls and domes have an enormous number of windows. This is part of the architecture that makes the space more divine.

The similarity between the two mosques is elements from the Hagia Sophia seem to be the same as the Sulaymaniyah. The plan of Hagia Sophia is it has a big centralized dome and semi domes. The same exact plan was used for the Sulaymaniyah building. Also, to upgrade the architecture of building they added the hanging lamps and more windows to let more light inside the building....
