c. Super's Archway Model of career choice and Hansen's Integrative Life Planning Model recognises the importance of environment. Briefly describe these models and illustrate the relevance of environment to your expected career based on these two models. Hansen's Integrative Life Planning Model has a holistic approach helps an individual plan a career with respect to community instead of self. The model takes into account all the peculiarities of the modern society individual's needs and the choices that individual makes within those context. There are six critical tasks that constitutes the Integrative Life Planning model. First, An individual would need the find work that needs doing in changing global context. Weaving one's life into a meaningful whole is followed by connecting family and work. Next is valuing pluralism and inclusivity, exploring spirituality and life purpose and lastly, managing personal transitions and organizational change Super's Archway Model is built on the basis that society and personality influences one's self concept which then influences one's career. There are two key areas of an individual life that influences the development of one's career and they are known to be the two holding pillars of Super's Archway Model, namely psychological and personal influences and Societal influences respectively. The doorstep represents the biological and geographical foundation of development while the top of the archway is indicative of the career that results from the foundation and the pillars. The two pillars interact and are neither separate nor independent of each other. Instrumental to the model is the person whom is the decision maker and on which the archway model is based on. ILP draws strongly on Super’s developmental model and presents a holistic approach to careers guidance. Instead of looking for a career based on my traits and striving for career success, I would look for a career that helps weaves the different aspects of my life. Family is something that i treasure very much and when looking for a job, I would incorporate the element of being able to fit in family time into my work. I would also seek for spiritual comfort and not just find a job that does not give me spiritual assurance. It is not easy to for an individual to truly understand what ethics and ideals they desire to incorporate into their work life and even I myself do not have a clear understanding as of yet but perhaps in time to come as i mature, i would be able to have a self realization of what i seek for. The ILP model also emphasize strongly on the guidance of career counsellors to aid one in answering the 6 task 7factors proposed by Hanson....
