II Laos Laos is a country located in South East Asia with many historical sites that are fascinating to anyone who will visit or who wants to visit. To better comprehend the country's historical sites, various sources help those who want to visit this beautiful place. One source is the book Laos keystone of Indochina by Authur J. Dommen. Another critical source in finding essential sites in Laos is the Bangkok Airways blogsite which advertises vital historical places to visit in the country; it helps tourists to know how to get around Laos without much trouble. There are other sites that anyone can use, which are culture trip, a travel guide company. Tourism review is a journal that specializes in advertising the best places to visit in Laos. BBC News is also an excellent source to discover the profile of Laos and can be retrieved via the internet. United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is an extra source that has verified several of the historical sites in Laos and can be read all the way through the organization's website. Authur Dommen, the author of Laos, discusses the nation's past, starting the events that preceded its independence from France. The book gives an excellent account of Laos from its geographical site, which includes lowlands that are led by Buddhists as well as the mountain region occupied by the Animists (Dommen, 2019). Dommen creates the country's profile as the most important thing that made it populated in the first place and the subsequent impact from the United States after the Second World War. The nation borders Vietnam in the East, China in the North, Burma in the northwest, and Thailand in South East. The location was ideal for change from foreign governments who have influenced its political, social, and economic systems. Laos is an admirable piece of literature that examines and analyses the essential structures of Laos as a country; local and international cultural and political events, and how these aspects have affected

III the development of the country, including the use of natural resources such as the Mekong river which is of great importance to the nation. Bangkok Airways website provides researchers, travelers, and historians with information about the best places to visit in Laos because the country is one of the destinations. A traveler may be concerned about which is the best site to enjoy their holiday in Asia. Bangkok Airways provides information that is useful to scholars for understanding Laos as a country of historical significance. The blog provides readers with rich history and the culture behind important historical sites preserved in the country. Many historical sites such as the Luang Prabang, an ancient town, the plain of jars that are over 2000 years old, the Luang Temple, which was built in the 16th century, and many others provide viewers with breathtaking moments (BangkokAir, 2021). However, the blog is not sufficient because it does not give some historical sites the full details. It only focuses on economic value to the company, and there may be others that have a rich history but are not listed. Therefore, the source is not suitable for research or any other work because of its informational limitation. The Culture Trip is a travel organization that is based in the United Kingdom. The company has recently developed by giving people, especially travelers, what they want to see to help them choose the best place to visits. On their website, many important sites are well documented by editors from various parts of the region. The website focuses on the culture of the Laotians and the beautiful mountainous landscapes that form most of the landscape. Culture Trip has documented the best attraction sites found in Laos, such as the Vat Phou, one of the earliest archeological sites in the country (Brady, 2021). Si Phan Don is also thousands of islands on the Mekong river created during the rainy season. Pha That Luang, which is a Buddhist stupa that is located in Vientiane and symbolizes the generosity and perseverance of the Lao People. Culture

IV Trip helps people explore Laos through innovative technology and good local researchers and content creators. The ere are recommendations and inspiring local content that directs travelers and other users to visit. However, since the culture Trip is a profit organization, it focuses on historical sites that are beneficial to the company and still limits people interested in sites that do not attract many tourists. Tourism review covers countries and has many articles and magazines that talk about Laos, the history of the country, political, social, and economic developments that have made the nation the new magical destination in the far East. The site gives detailed information about most of Laos's historical sites and landmarks, such as the Luang Prabang, the nation's spiritual heart. It also explains the current trends in the Laos tourism sector and the significance of Vientiane city, the history of the city, and its developments (Tourismreview, 2021). Tourism review is an excellent source for historical facts and information about nations. It has continued to be the leading platform in making Laos a popular destination for many people by documenting crucial historical data. It uses many researchers and editors in many fields such as economics, political science, history, and tourism. There is credible information on the site that internet users can easily access and view the world. Even though the site deals with all sectors of the nation, social, political, and economical, both current and past events, it heavily relies on the tourism sector compared to politics and culture. The BBC news website is a western news media that has been the most trusted source for information about the world for a long time. Political developments in Laos, mainly caused by the country's political system, have shaped how its resources, including natural, historical sites, and other resources such as the disputed Mekong river between Laos and her neighbors (BBC, 2021). The website gives a glimpse of the countries profile and some historical sites that have

V been of importance to the western media. However, the site only provides significant developments such as the activities proposed in the heart of Laos, Mekong river. It also connects politics with Laos natural resources, which may negatively impact the people who visit the website. The UNESCO website provides internet users with important historical information about crucial sites important to Laos and the world. Some of the sites hold vital historical information such as the countries traditions and culture. UNESCO has several world heritage sites such as the ancient town of Luang Prabang, Vat Phou, which is a spectacular landscape; the Plain of Jars which were used for funeral ceremonies in the past. Furthermore, cities are located along the Mekong river (Centre, 2021). The three sites, UNESCO world heritage, are cultural sites that hold significant meaning to Laos's people. However, UNESCO does not recognize many other historical sites that are of great importance to the nation and may be on the verge of destruction through mismanagement and other factors. There are many breathtaking historical sites in Laos that are not documented extensively under UNESCO and are yet to be opened. Conclusion Many natural wonders in Laos are not exhausted, and many people who are not familiar with the nation know nothing about it. Whether it is a tourist, a political researcher, a historian, an archeologist, all have an interest in the spectacular sites found in Laos. One of the fascinating discoveries about Laos is the mega-projects planned on the Mekong river to provide hydropower. Mekong river is a symbol of life in Southeast Asia. Turning to the battery of the region is another crucial step in how the historical sites and resources are essential to Laotians. However, there is no information about the environmental impacts that the projects will bring on the river and other important historical sites. Such projects have devastating effects on the environment and there

VI should be information showing the full impact of the project on the local people and the nearby sites. If the project is not done according to international regulations, there may long-lasting consequences which may not be rectified.
