I discuss how the theme songs from Star Wars and Game of Thrones stike my attention and why I like them....
Willow Wright 9/16/2019 Section DMA Homework #3 The theme from Star Wars and the theme from Game of Thrones were 2 of the songs that really caught my attention. Despite those songs not being what I would typically listen to on a daily basis, I did really enjoy listening to them. Both songs stood out in their own ways, even though both songs used traditional instruments instead of using electronic music. The theme from Star Wars (composed by John Williams) is a song that I surprisingly like. Even though I do love listening to more traditional instruments, the song involves a lot of horns and brass. I personally prefer strings having the main melody or even countermelody of a song,but every note flowed together. The theme from Game of Thrones (composed by Ramin Djawadi) stood out to me the most though, despite how much I like the Star Wars theme. The strings, especially the cello, were able to have their shining moment. The song mostly consists of percussion, specifically drums, and strings. Having the cello’s low notes mixed with the violin’s higher notes balanced out the song and helped establish an emotion the listener may have to the song. Even though both of these songs are vastly different when it comes to which sections of an orchestra has more of the melody, both songs help represent the band and orchestral aspects of a professional piece....
