Description

1A. Three adaptations animals may posses in order to thrive in desert biomes are large appendages, being nocturnal, and being able to obtain and conserve enough water. Large appendages serve to cool the body. Being nocturnal allows insects and animals to avoid the intense heat. Being able to successfully obtain and conserve water is an important adaptation to have especially in a drought.

1B. Desert tortoises can store over 40 percent of its body weight in water. They are able to survive for months without an outside source of water.

2A. Trees are not found in Tundra biomes because the NPP is too low. There is a permafrost so the ground is frozen. Only shrubs are able to grow there because its roots are shallow unlike a tree.

2B. Trees are not found in temperate grassland biomes mainly because there are so many wildfires. It is so dry there that fires occur often which kill most trees....
