1) Define theory Theory is an idea to explain a situation or justify a course of action.

2) Purpose of the theory

 

to explain, predict, and understand phenomena and, in many cases, to challenge and extend existing knowledge within the limits of critical bounding assumptions.

4) What is biological theories of ageing and its example? Biological theories can be classified into 2 which is:  

Stochastic theory that suggest aging occurs as a random event and occur over time. Non-stochastic theory suggesting that aging is a pre-determined and timed phenomenon (non-random event).

Examples of biological theories- wear and tear theory, error theory, error and fidelity theory, cross linkage theory, free radical theory, programmed ageing theory & immunologic theory

5) What is psychological theories of ageing and its example? Aging can be described through mental processes, emotions, attitudes, motivation and personality development which is characterized by stages of transition in life. Examples of psychological theories- Disengagement theory, activity theories, continuity theory and life-course theory.

6) How to apply biological theories of aging in the practice as a physiotherapist. As one gets older, there will be declination in their physiology and functions or systems in the body also will undergo changes. Moreover, it could be worsened by diseases and environmental factors. As a physiotherapist, the wear and tear theories are most suitable to apply for the folks with joints problems especially to one with osteoarthritis. Provision of enough exercise and suitable home exercise program for them would help improving their condition.

7) How to apply psychological theories of aging in the practice as a physiotherapist. The most suitable theory to be used are activity theory as most of them may experience declining in physical activities. As physiotherapist, Encouragement of older people in performing exercises and maintaining active and healthy lifestyle regarding their age is a must to avoid any unwanted consequences from being inactive and unhealthy. 8) Model of care in older people The Green House Model- a model designed to change the traditional culture of nursing-home care in order to improve job satisfaction among workers and quality of life (QoL) of residents. Encouraging residents to live their lives under normal instead of therapeutic circumstances through 3 key features which are:  



Composition of a small, technologically sophisticated house that functions as a home for 8-10 residents as their new environment. Multi roles played by the frontline caregivers that include personal care, cooking, housekeeping, and ensure that residents spend time well. Formation of visiting clinical support team by professional healthcare providers that provide specialized assessments for residents....
