Maps sometimes show up in IELTS academic writing task 1. There are different types of maps and the most common is the past and present (this task below) or sometimes both maps may be in the past, there are also maps which show proposals for the future such as a redevelopment scheme. You will need to use specific vocabulary in this task, the grammar needed in this task here would be the past

When we describe change, the present perfect and the present perfect passive is often used. The two maps illustrate the main changes which have taken place in the town of Denham from 1986 to the present. Overall, the town has most notably shown an increase in housing development, which indicates a higher population and a move away from agriculture and farming. One change that stands out is that there has been a significant redevelopment over the whole period of what was once farmland. Housing now dominates the area to the east of the river stoke. In 1986 there were shops and just a handful of residential properties. Now there are no shops nor farmland left, although the post office is still there. The bridge over the river stoke still stands as it did in 1986. Another noticeable change is that there have been more roads built around the housing complex. Additionally, the gardens, that were a feature in 1986, have been removed and the large houses were expanded and converted into a retirement home. The primary school still stands and has been extended in the decades since. The fence toward the river that was running north of the gardens in 1986 is no longer there. Ravjot Kaur Kalra PLEASE CHECK MY WRITING ON THE SAME MAP AND GIVE ME THE SCORES The given map illustrates the changes, additions or developments occurred in the town of Denham in England from the year 1986 till date. Overall, the town has been developed with the new houses, while farmlands along with the farming animals were demolished completely in present. One thing which outstands in the map is the number of houses, which have been constructed majorly after knocking down not only the massive agricultural land, but also the shops in the mid of the location given, while post office remained unchanged in the center of the map. Opposite to the post office, primary school has been expanded by removing the road, while the bridge still stands the same. Other noticeable change is that, ‘Gardens with the large house’ which was next to the school in the south redeveloped into a ‘retirement home’. Furthermore, river stoke which was flowing from southern to northern part has kept the same. Like 8 Reply 8 4w
