First of all, thanks to Allah SWT for his mercy and guidance in giving us full strength to complete this task. We will not be able to complete this task without His will and blessing. We also pay this tribute to our parents as they always pray for us while studying in university. They also support us spiritually and financially to complete this assignment successfully. Not to forget our lecturer whom we love, Miss Fatimah Zuhaira bt Mohamed Yusoff Fauzi because with the will of Allah, she is willing to give guidance even when we interrupt her free time. 1 1.0 INTRODUCTION

Museum Islamic is a place where you can trace the root of Islam in Kelantan. The building itself resemble the mosque-like building. It contains various artifacts and inscriptions documents of how Islam got introduced in Kelantan and how it became such an important element in the everyday life in the state of Kelantan. It was once known to be the Verandah to Mecca also known as 'Serambi Mekah'.

2.0 BACKGROUND OF THE INFORMATION AGENCY Before Kelantan Islamic Museum opened on 11 November 1991, this building was originally a residence for the Chief Minister of Kelantan, Hassan Mohd Salleh. The building also used to house the Kelantan Islamic Council and Malay Costumes from 1917 to 1990. The building was then renovated and turned into museum by Kelantan Sultan Ismail Petra. This building is one of the buildings that has a unique design feature in Kota Bharu. The renovation of the building has commenced since the beginning of 1991 and was fully completed on November 11, 1991. The house was built with the highest quality tropical hardwood species known locally as cengal. The roof has a multi-tiered pyramid structure known as Bumbung Limas Bungkus and is covered with clay roof tiles called Genting Singgora. The doors, windows and walls, both exterior and interior, are a work of art with intricate carved motifs.

3.4 OBJECTIVES ● To encourage and attract multiracial communities about their origins to create a harmonious atmosphere and foster unity. ● To be a major reference centre for students and anyone interested in history and the arrival of Islam in Kelantan. ● To help in developing the country's tourism industry.

FIGURE 1.0: KAMPUNG LAUT MOSQUE Masjid Kampung Laut is believe to be the oldest mosque in Malaysia. The original and unique building and design which was constructed without using a single nail, share certain similarities with Demak Mosque in Java, Old Mosque in Campa, Telok Manok Narathiwat and Nad Tanjung Pattani. It is believed that this mosque was built in the 18 th century by a group of theologians who were on their journey to Java. This mosque was the main place of worship for residence of Kampung Laut until as if was destroyed by flood in late 1966 to early 1967. The State Government had closed the mosque and built a new one in a safer area. In November 1967, the State Government, with the co-operation of the Historical Society of Malaysia and the National Museum reconstructed the mosque at Nilam Puri, maintaining the original shape and material where possible. However, only the main part of the mosque, i.e. the main prayer hall was successfully constructed.

FIGURE 1.1: THE PULPIT OF KAMPUNG LAUT MOSQUE The Pulpit is where the imam gives his sermon during the Friday prayer at the mosque. It is placed on the right side of the mosque mihrab. The carving on the pulpit clearly shows the infricate design of Islamic carving. The carving of floral motifs design is spray with gold. The original pulpit is now used at the Pasir Pekan in Tumpat, Kelantan.

FIGURE 1.2, THE TYPES OF POTTERY (Earthenware, stoneware, porcelain, celadon, Islamic pottery) Earthenware is a products made from clay materials that comes from the earth meanwhile stoneware is a products made from the earth’s stone materials. Porcelain is made from materials that will only melt at a very high temperature. Next, Celadon is a green pottery (green ware). Many opinions have been put forth on the difference between celadon and green ware. Islamic pottery is any types of pottery that has Arabic writings and design taste of muslims and includes pottery that have a glaze or coating that is known as ‘Mohammedan blue’.

FIGURE 1.3: THE TYPES OF KHAT IN MALAY STATE The art of khat began to enter Malaysia since the seventh century still through dakwah and business which began to centre in Gujerat, India. Then, Pertak, Sumatra became the centre of the spread of Islam and the point of development of calligraphy in the Malay world. Until the 15th century, Melaka took over the role of the business centre and the spread of Islam in Malay. Islam and khat writers continue to evolve and are officially proven by the discovery of stone in Terengganu (1303 M). Next the khat arts were studied in Malaya through cottage studies, Arab schools and several other institutions. For example, Sultan Idris College Colleges of Tanjung Malim have produced many teachers who taught jawi writing in the past. Among the Arab schools that have produced native writers are Madrasah Muhammadiyah, Kelantan and others.

FIGURE 1.5, INCENSE BRAZIER This incense brazier is usually used for tahlil after death, so that it will always smell good and fresh. To obtain this fragrant odour, some materials such as incense, Cendana, Kenerak, Kasturi, Gaharu, wood and sugar are scattered on a brazier.

FIGURE 1.6: TOUR GUIDE Kelantan Islamic Museum have tour guide to provides assistance, information on cultural, historical and contemporary heritage to people on organized tours. They also have question and answer counter for visitor to ask question. This question and answer counter will help visitors to gain extra knowledge.

FIGURE 1.8: CALLIGRAPHY ART COMPETITION Calligraphy Art Competition was held annually to encourage and improve the competitive process among local tourist. This competition held once a year. The winner will take home RM200 and his art will be shown to tourist in the museum. This will attract more visitors to come Kelantan Islamic Museum.

FIGURE 1.7: TUAN GURU NIK AZIZ EXHIBITION This is an exhibition of Almarhum Tok Guru Nik Aziz (1931-2015). This exhibition held for his rewarded in politics, religion about Islam, and nation.

FIGURE 1.9 MUSEUM INFORMATION This museum opened at 8.30 am - 4.45 pm on Saturday to Wednesday and 8.30am - 3.30pm on Thursday to Friday. The entrance fee for local and foreigner visitor is different. The local entrance fee for adult visitor is RM2.00 and for children is RM1.00. The foreigner entrance fee for adult is RM4.00 and for children is RM2.00.

DISCUSSION To conclude, we have learnt many things from museum Islam for this group assignment. For example, we gained many knowledge about before and after Islam exist in Kelantan. In this museum, we get to see some history item such as pottery, copper coins, and old robe. We also get to know about types of calligraphy such as Kufi, Tsuluts, Naskh, Riq’ah, Humayuni and Farisi. From tiny dots information about Islam, we got lots of knowledge after visiting museum Islam Kelantan.
