Thesis Statement: Impact of Original Pinoy Music to the lifestyle of Filipinos, this research will be able to answer how OPM impacts our lives as filipino citizens. I. Introduction Original Pilipino Music, also known as Original Pinoy Music, Original Philippine Music, or OPM for short, referred to Philippine pop music, especially ballads, that were popular in the Philippines from the late 1970s until the present. In the 1970s, OPM singers like Rico Puno Jr., Ryan Cayabyab, and Celeste Legaspi led the way, while in the 1980s and 1990s, Regine Velasquez, Sharon Cuneta, Martin Nievera, Pops Fernandes, and others led the way. Today, OPM is undergoing a renaissance, with new Pilipino underground musicians such as Jess Connelly, BP Velazquez, CRWN, Lustbass (from Mark Herlihy's Manila Rising event last year) and others developing a new OPM sound. ASTIG OPM, an Oakland party crew, hosts a monthly night dedicated to OPM music's history, present, and future. Pilipino unusual grooves on vinyl are now being sought by record enthusiasts. Music is a kind of art and a cultural activity in which sound is the primary medium. Pitch, rhythm, dynamics, and the auditory characteristics of timbre and texture are all common aspects of music. Melody and harmony are governed by pitch. Tempo, meter, and articulation are all ideas connected with rhythm. The loudness and softness of a sound are referred to as dynamics. The timbre and texture aspects of a musical sound are frequently referred to as the "color" of the sound. Some of these components may be emphasized, de-emphasized, or omitted depending on the style or kind of music. There are solely instrumental pieces, solely vocal pieces such as songs without instrumental accompaniment, and pieces that combine singing and instruments, and music is performed with a wide range of instruments and vocal techniques ranging from singing to rapping. It's also the decade that witnessed a resurgence of interest in Filipino current music, after the previous decade's music charts were dominated by Foreign Pop Songs. Not only does Eraserheads have a significant impact on Filipino culture. Many prominent artists, such as Gloc-9, have a strong impact on their music.
