(2012), "Functional classification scheme for records", Records Management Journal, Vol. 22 No. 2, pp. 116-129. 2.0) BIBLIOGRAPHIC INFORMATION ABOUT THE AUTHOR Jóhanna Gunnlaugsdóttir is a professor that work at the University of Iceland under the Faculty of Sociology, Anthropology and Folkloristics. Her main field of teaching and research is in information and records management, total quality management and knowledge management. She has received a BA in History and Library and Information Sciences from the University of Iceland, a MSc (Econ) from the University of Wales, and a PhD from the University of Tampere, Finland. She is a reviewer of manuscripts, both Icelandic and from overseas, in the field of information sciences, and sits on editorial advisory boards. 3.0) INTENDED AUDIENCE The authors choose this topic because it is appropriate for her target audience which is the employee that manage the records that works in the organization. 4.0) GENERAL PROBLEM AREA The general problem that the author has been identify is about a lack of systematic analysis of studies on classification of records and FCS, not only in Iceland but in other countries as well. 5.0) PAST RESEARCH The author also uses her past research to compare it with this article. The name of the article is “The human side of ERMS: an Icelandic study” (2009). In the previous research, the author discussed about how employees view their use of Electronic Records Management Systems (ERMS).

6.0) OBJECTIVE The objective of this article that the author was been discussed were about on how the records were classified in a systematics manner according to a uniform classification scheme or FCS, methods that were used in classifying records, opinion of employees, importance of a Functional Classification Scheme and its use for the efficient functioning of the organization. 7.0) TERMS DEFINED The author was defined that the systematic classification of information and records and the use of a uniform FCS form the basis for efficient information and records management in organizations. 8.0) LANGUAGE The language use by the author in this article is suitable for her target audience, because the terms in the article was easy to understand and the author defined term by using her own perspective to allow her target audience to understand more about this article. .9.0) REFERENCE GIVEN In this article, the author has acknowledged the other researcher by using their works in completing her research. The period of time of the article that has been refer by the author is from 1968 until 2010. 10.0) EXPECTED RESULTS In this article, the author was expected the result of implementing such a scheme organization-wide are for the users to be able to retrieve the information when it is needed. The author was conducting a research with the records employee that works in a 75 different organization to get a clear result. The author was analysing the data collected in 1986 to 2006 regarding the status of a uniform FCS in the 75 organizations are shown in the illustration table 1 in the article. 11.0) ILLUSTRATION

In this article, the author was shown two figure that contain the information about the status regarding a uniform FCS in the 75 organizations and the status regarding a uniform FCS in the 45 organization during the years 2008 until 2010. 12.0) MAJOR FINDINGS The author had identified that there were many organizations that does not use Functional Classification System records were variably stored unclassified or were classified by the employees according to individualistic schemes made up by themselves. 13.0) REFERRED TO BY ANYONE ELSE This article was been used by Peta Ifould and Pauline Joseph in their article that is “User difficulties working with a business classification scheme: a case study” (2016). 14.0) ACCOMPLISH OBJECTIVE The objective of the author was been achieve. Out of 75 organization that was been follow by the research, 68 of them were agreed to accept the service to have a uniform FCS designed for the organization as a whole for use in classifying their information and records in some kind of format. 15.0) SUGGESTIONS Finally, in the end of the article, the researcher was making a recommendation by using other research that was about the classification schemes should be functional rather than based on organizational structure.
