Firstly, I would like to express my thankful to Allah SWT, He is the most powerful and merciful who give me opportunity to complete my individual assignment 2 successfully. Without hid guidance, I will be lost and this assignment can’t never be complete.

My gratitude to Madam Muna Wadhiha binti Mohd Fauzi, my lecturer for subject Principles and Practice of Management in semester 1. She has guide me from the begging of semester until now. Without her guidance, I will never learn what I have learn up until now, and will never get the education of management.

I am very thankful to have my parents, Nur Amimah binti Abdul Wahab and Ismail bin Ahmad by my side, through out the process of completing this individual assignment 2. Just by looking at them, they have inspired me to complete this task. I am also thankful for them, for providing me with the best facilities throughout my education journey during this hard time.

I acknowledge with thank you to my fellow classmate, for their role as my support system throughout this education journey. Without their help and guidance, I will never be strong enough to continue my study during this pandemic time. They has sacrifice their freetime in order to help me to complete this task.

Lastly, I would like to wish thankyou to myself, who has work hard to complete this individual assignment 2 bymyself. Without my determination, I can’t never complete this task in wonderful manner.

1. What have I learned? Through this experience on learning Principle and Practice of Management (MGT420), I managed to learn every element that are linked to management. From chapter 1 to the last chapter, I discover and has gain interest on learning new things about management. Firstly, I get to learn the evolution of management theory, which defined importance of management, and how it has gone through evolution from 1890 to present. One thing that almost every organisation apply is bureaucratic theory by Max Weber. He stated that an organisation will be most efficient when bureaucratic structure is used. Which it includes Task Specialization, hierarchy, formal selection, rules and requirements, and impersonal. Max Weber believe that his theory is efficient, systematic, organised, and to delete injustice in management.

Next, I have learned about leadership on chapter 6. Leadership means the process which a person influence, motivate and inspire other people in order to achieve the organization goal. Leader has influenced a lot in employees’ performance. An effective leadership is someone who have conceptual ability, self-confidence, extroversion, honesty and integrity, motivation and drive. These leadership skills can lead an effective leadership as it is a skill in order to help organizations to achieve its goals. I believe the most importance skills are conceptual ability. Conceptual skills are the ability to understand a complex case and resolve the problem in a creative manner. Efforts, Creative and innovative thinking is the key to solve the problem, as the leader may think various of ways to solve the problems for organizations. This skill will make it easier for organizations to achieve their goals

Other than that, I also have learned on Chapter 7 about Motivation. Motivation is the inner encouragement that existed in a person to work hard to achieve their goals. I also have learned how important motivation is to the organisation, which motivation can increase the performance of employees to achieve organisation goals, and increase the cooperation of employees among themselves. There are theories which explain their believe on the employees needs and wants. The theories can help leader to identify the factors that can increase the motivations of employees. 2

2. What are the take away? Principle and practise of Management has taught me about planning, organising, leadership and controlling. Management has help organisation to achieve its targets and made the organisation running smoothly. Without the base of management, an organisation will fail and not successful. Next, I also have realised the importance of leadership characteristic in management. A leader is someone who are given power through legitimate power, and they have power to influence and motivates other employees. True and effective leadership will lead to motivated and excellent teamwork environment.

3. What are the skills acquired from this subject? The skills acquired from this subject is team building and communication skills. Through learning session, I realised that Principle and Practise of Management subject has emphasize on team building skills as we will work together to achieve the organisation goals. But of course, internal environment has a big impact on the organization environment. Next, through this subject I also learn that communication skills are one of the most importance skills acquired in management. A good communication skill will help management to work properly and prevent trivial mistake from happening. The benefit I acquired through this subject is identified the necessary skills needed for an effective leader and employees in order to achieve organisation goals.

4. Will you be using this skill in future? In my opinion, I will use the skills in the future as the skills are very importance for a leader and employees. For example, team building skills will help me to be more variant with more brilliant opinions and ideas. Team working also help me to realise my weakness that I need to improve in order to be more successful. Other than that, communication skills are very helpful in management, as it can help in deliver clear expectations and objectives for my team. A good social skill also can be helpful in getting projects with investors and importance parties.

5. What are the benefits that you acquired from this subject? The benefits that I acquired from this subject is learning a knowledge of management. I can use the knowledge in my future career, either as a leader, employees or business owner. The knowledge that I learned throughout this learning session; I can practise it for a good cause. Other than that, I also have earned skills throughout this subject, which is communication and team work skills. These skills are very important in every career, without these skills one person cannot become successful and develop themselves in the career.

6. What do you like best about this subject? What I like the most about this subject is because I like learning about management. Everything about management is based on the functions which are planning, organising, leadership and controlling. Without these functions, management will fail and it will not be running properly as each function are linked to each other. Next, through this subject, I have gained a better understanding on management. Management is very important for an organisation. As it helps in managing the basic things in organisation in order for organisation to work smoothly.

7. Any suggestion for improvement for this subject? My suggestion for improvement for this subject is to be variant with notes. Making notes by using PowerPoint slides is good enough. However, if there is a room for improvement, I would suggest lecturer to use platform such as Quizlet in order to make the learning session more fun and enjoyable. I believe that it will helps many students to gain interest on this subject and it also helps students to memorize important points.
