INTRODUCTION

Sport centres are places where sports competitions or games take place, whether or not the building is used only for that purpose. Sport services since have played an important role in encouraging physical activity and interest in recreational sports. As a result, sport facilities refer to land and structures that are built, constructed, and used for sports events, whether indoors or out. Sporting buildings, like a clubhouse, designed to host major league professional sports teams. TYPES OF FACILITIES

Based on my research, I choose The National Aquatic Centre, Kuala Lumpur as my types of facilities. The National Aquatic Centre comprises of a training pool, competition pool and a diving pool. The premise is now run by D Swim Academy who run classes that are available to the public. DSA is proud to be the largest and only gold level AUSTSWIM Recognised Swim Centre in Malaysia. DSA is still striving to strengthen and uphold the high expectations set by AUSTSWIM and the International Swimming Federation (FINA). Their high-quality education keeps up with new swimming patterns and innovations by including ongoing rigorous instruction and certification for their staff, teachers, and coaches, as well as continuously updating their programs and teaching methodologies for optimum effectiveness. DSA aims to provide the best service possible and they feel that all children need to learn to swim with the best instructors possible. FUNCTION

The National Aquatic Centre offering and has the following facilities: Olympic-sized swimming pool – 50m x 25m with 10 lanes with a depth of 2-3m, international standard diving pool – 25m x 25m with a depth of 5m, equipped with a tower with 3 platforms at heights of 5m, and 7.5m, and 10m plus 3 springboards at 3m high and 1 at 1m high which it is suitable for swimming and any aquatic competitions. There are also 6 practice springboards at 1m high and swimming training pool – 50m x 20m with 8 lanes and a variable depth from 0.0m to 1.8m. The pool is equipped with a moveable floor system from Holland. In addition to the above facilities, the Centre can also accommodate an audience of 4,000 people and has an additional

2,000 temporary seats. Open to the public, this pool can be used for training or conducting swimming classes according to regulations set by the Centre. THE FACILITY AESTHETICS

The National Aquatic Centre has been transformed with its recent upgrades which include new distinct facade offering a generous shaded entrance space with a fabric roof and glass curtain wall to allow more daylight. After that, they also do a replacement of the existing fabric roof at the seating and pool area. They also provide new International Swimming Federation's compliant diving board and upgrades to the VIP lobby space, changing rooms, media facilities and public toilets, new sports lighting & PA systems, new tiling, underwater lighting and mechanical filtration systems to all the pools. The National Aquatic Centre is a place where sporting experience can be used to fulfil the needs of swimming and other aquatic activities. Furthermore, the building adheres to the International Swimming Federation's (FINA) stringent requirements and regulations, with a total area of approximately 28,000 square meters. The floating dome model is 7,500 square meters in size and weighs 14 tons.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, this study attempted to investigate 3 distinctive criteria that every sport complex needs to be built with a good material and fully facilities just like National Aquatic Centre, Kuala Lumpur. In addition, National Aquatic Centre is the best example and can inspired other aquatic centre to be more successful and meet the needs to achieve for international level. In consequence, it is suggested that it is necessary to improve and reinforce the services and facilities for all sport complex in Malaysia.
