Abstract A leader is a person who leads a group of people to achieve a common goal. Becoming a leader does not imply title or qualifications. Many people believe that if they hold a higher position, they will automatically be assigned as a leader. Most people are assigned based on their previous job success rather than their leadership potential. To be a leader, you must be able to guide and persuade the team to work together to achieve their goals under any circumstances. A successful leader will have the vision to develop the team and achieve goals. To be a leader, someone must be able to lead their team and set an example, inspire, and influence others to work with confidence. This shows that the success of leaders depends on their leadership abilities. A team can only succeed if the leader can lead it [CITATION Jac201 \l 17417 ]. Finally, for their team to meet the company's requirements, leaders must possess all the leadership qualities.

Leader’s Background

Howard Schultz struggled to find work after graduating. His first job involved selling office supplies door to door. Howard keeps working despite receiving 50 cold calls per day because he enjoys interacting with people. Even though Howard enjoys his current job, he has decided to pursue other opportunities at various organisations to gain more experience and improve his skills. Following that, Howard Schultz worked for a European firm that produced kitchenware in the United States. Starbucks, a tiny coffee shop in Seattle, Washington, is one of the company's most loyal customers, regularly purchasing the company's housewares. Howard Schultz opened his own coffer shop, but it was not as successful as he had hoped. Howard survived on his wife's salary for a year. In 1987, he had three Espresso bars called ll Giornale because of his hard work and determination. After two years of success, Howard Schultz decided to buy Starbucks after learning that the company's owners were planning to sell the store, the roasting plant, and the brand itself due to financial difficulties. Until recently, he was widely regarded as a driving force behind Starbucks' expansion into a global coffee chain with over 23,000 locations in 72 countries [ CITATION How19 \l 17417 ].

Leader’s Traits and Skills A leader sees opportunities and knows when to take advantage of them. To gain the trust of group members and achieve the company's goals, a leader must understand how to communicate and interact with them. As a result, to be a successful leader, a leader must possess all the traits and skills listed above. 1. Flexibility No matter what ideals or business guidelines you set, Howard Schultz believes that you must remain flexible to keep up with changing conditions. He has grown due to the changing needs of consumers. He could not bear the consequences of losing a Starbucks customer. For example, Starbucks used to only sell whole milk coffee. As the number of health-conscious customers increased, Howard also chose to add skimmed milk to the menu. 2. Boldness Regardless of the danger, leaders must make decisions and seize opportunities. Howard firmly believes that it is not always prudent to act in order to succeed. For example, in 1996, United Airlines wanted to cooperate with Starbucks to sell coffee on flights. On the other hand, the airline has a bad reputation, and Starbucks stakeholders don’t want to sign a contract. Nevertheless, this is an opportunity to help 20 million people every year. Howard played an important role here, which later proved to be correct.

3. Howard Schultz demonstrated his ability to manage

The financial 6. crisis, or the global financial crisis, occurred in 2008, with its effect almost globally. 7. With Starbuck growing bigger, the better their coffee and the better the price. As the 5

Howard 10.Schultz is never afraid to admit his mistakes and work to repair the damage. He 11.immediately apologises to the employees and their families for the company's failure 6

12.to meet their expectations. the time (Shezray Husain, 2014) 3. Intellectual Stimulation Howard has a strong imagination. As a practitioner of transformational leadership, he also believes in intellectual stimulation. He is not afraid of going against the sky. Because of the different corporate cultures at the time, when he advocated the concept of starting the "third position", no one was enthusiastic. On the other hand, his bold imagination made everyone praise his thinking ability[ CITATION Fah21 \l 17417 ].

Leader’s Behaviour The characteristics and acts that contribute to an individual's effectiveness as a leader are referred to as leadership behaviour. The process by which an individual guides, directs, and influences their subordinates to meet the organization's goals is known as behaviour. When a leader has a clear vision for his or her company, he or she will use this behaviour to inspire people to act.

1. Relationship: Oriented Style Leaders must emphasize relationships after all, leadership is about inspiring and encouraging others to act. A leader who lacks a comprehensive grasp of their employee’s needs, interests, and abilities, as well as the ability to relate to them on a personal level, will never succeed. However, keeping this in mind, it is also critical for a leader to stay focused on the task at hand. [ CITATION Jon20 \l 17417 ] As we all know, Starbucks employees admire Howard Schultz as a great leader. Therefore, Howard cares about his employees. In addition to his family, he also puts employees first. In 1988, Starbucks was one of the first companies in the 10

United States to provide health insurance for all its employees (including part-time employees), which was unheard of at the time. Therefore, Howard hopes to provide better health care for his employees by developing a health care plan. From top to bottom, they all admitted that Howard was very concerned about their health and care. Therefore, Howard is respected by all Starbucks employees. Howard said that the trust and confidence he built with the company's employees was his greatest achievement. Howard Schultz always cares about the whereabouts and well-being of his employees.

Leader’s Power Leadership strength is the ability of a leader to influence his or her subordinates. Because the leaders are in command, it can persuade those in positions of authority to do what the leader asks. To be an effective leader, they must possess certain abilities that enable them to motivate themselves and their team to reach a common goal. 1. Expert Power Howard established the company's purpose and goals from the very beginning of his leadership role at Starbucks. Because Howard ran a coffee shop before, all employees trusted him. In addition, his coffee shop is also very successful. Therefore, they suspect that Howard might want Starbucks to be as successful as his coffee shop. Although most Starbucks employees are sceptical of Howard’s dreams when he first became CEO, Howard emphasized the need to use his power as effectively as possible to avoid making mistakes. Howard persuaded employees that he had worked in their positions before, which may have something to do with their enthusiasm. Therefore, Howard promised not to let them down. He plans to establish a national company with values and guiding principles that they are proud of. 2. Reverent Power 11

He got Howard Schultz's right of accusation from colleagues and employees. They trust and support the direction Starbucks takes based on their feedback on public forums. This is evident in Starbucks' current performance compared to when it first opened. Five years later, he returned to Starbucks as CEO. When he returned, he noticed that Starbucks had undergone earth-shaking changes, not because of the interior design or coffee quality, but because of Starbucks' low morale. The company's divisions began to grow. People are cautious, cynical, exhausted, and underestimated. Howard decided to be honest with his employees and share his plans and enthusiasm for solving all the company's problems. In addition, he planned the moment he walked into Starbucks and fulfilled his promise. This shows that Howard Schultz is a capable leader trusted by many people [ CITATION Jon201 \l 17417 ]. Conclusion Howard Schultz is very responsible for Starbucks' success as a quality leader. This is because he could guide Starbucks' strategy until it becomes a well-known multinational company. Despite having a different leadership style from other CEOs, Howard always puts the company first. Howard Schultz puts development first, because he believes that the most important aspect of Starbucks is to attract, support and develop his followers. It's no surprise that the company maintains its position as the most profitable coffee shop in the world. Finally, almost every aspect of life necessitates leadership. A leader's good leadership qualities, which are related to an organization's success, open the door to success. To use Howard Schultz as an example, to be a good leader and improve one's future performance, one must understand how to fully utilise one's characteristics. This is because leaders are by far one of the most important factors that can determine whether an organisation succeeds or fails. As a result, it is possible to conclude that a leader is an organization's most asset.
