INTRODUCTION

Leadership is the art of inspiring a group of people to work together to achieve a goal of the business. This can include directing employees and colleagues with a strategy to suit the company's needs in a corporate setting. Other than that, a leader is also someone who can hold a deep commitment to leading others and setting an example so that others are motivated to follow what they have to do. Being a leader requires more than just a position, title, or rank. Leadership is related to performance and should be taken into account in the definition of leadership. As a result, leadership is not profitable in nature, but those who make a business more profitable are considered effective leaders in the business context. Tan Sri Datuk Tiong Su Kouk will be highlighted as a leadership role model in this report. He is widely recognized for his contributions, success, and leadership qualities. All of the values he possesses can serve as an inspiration to those who hold the title of leader, in order to achieve our life's objectives.

LEADER’S BACKGROUND

Tan Sri Datuk Tiong Su Kouk is 76 years old, Malaysian, he is the founder of CCK Consolidated Holdings Berhad and its subsidiaries which is CCK Group. On 15 July 1997, he was appointed to become an Executive Chairman, and on 20 March 2002, he was re-designated as Non-Independent Non-Executive Chairman. He also serves on CCK's Audit and Nomination Committees and as Chairman of the CCK Remuneration Committee. He is also the Chairman of the CCK Group's other subsidiaries. The CCK Group has grown from a small family-run business to one of Sarawak's largest integrated poultry products and frozen seafood products under his management. Tan Sri Datuk Tiong Su Kouk started his career as a seafood merchant at the age of 14. In his last 33 years he has also worked in the poultry industry. Tan Sri Datuk Tiong Su Kouk is also a member of several school boards and he also part of an active member of the Malaysian Fuzhou and Zhang Associations. He is the Lifetime Honorary President of the China Sibu Chamber of Commerce and the Sarawak Chinese Chamber of Commerce Association. On the occasion of His Excellency's 75th birthday. On 2001, Seri Paduka Baginda Yan Di-Pertuan Agong awarded Panglima Jasa Negara (PJN) the title of Datuk on YBhg. Tan Sri Datuk Tiong Su Kouk. In addition, he was awarded the Pingat Bintang Sarawak (PBS) and Johan Setia Mahkota (JSM) awards in 1987 and 2000, respectively, by the Sarawak State Government and Seri Paduka Baginda Yan Di-Pertuan Agong for his contributions to society. Tan Sri Datuk Tiong Su Kouk was named Consumer Product Entrepreneur of the Year at the 2016 Asia Pacific Entrepreneurship Awards.

LEADER’S TRAITS AND SKILLS

An effective leader is concerned with the responsibility of leading and driving toward business success. Tan Sri Datuk Tiong Su Kouk is an ingenious entrepreneur, full of ambitions to achieve his business visions. He wasn't born with a silver spoon in his mouth, but with the RM3.40 his father handed him when he was 14, he starts to build his business empire. He started his profession as a fishmonger with that tiny quantity of money, eventually developing his business. He also worked as a rubber tapper from the age of eight until he was thirteen, when he received RM3.40 from his father. He had to drop out of school at such a young age, but he went on to achieve greater success. He had to drop out from school because he wants to provide educational opportunities for his siblings while working all hours of the day and night to support his family. He was inspired by the Chinese proverb to "rise to a higher level", which guided him in pursuit of higher goals and achievement of milestones in his business endeavors and to build a respected business empire globally. Refrigerated fish and shrimp storage, aquatic processing, organic tiger prawn farming, aquaculture, poultry farming, shipbuilding, boat rental, property development, and distribution of food and beverages were among his business.

LEADER’S BEHAVIOR

Tan Sri Datuk Tiong Su Kouk emphasizes a relation orientation in maintaining the worker's wellbeing in order to produce unexpected results. Tan Sri Datuk Tiong Su Kouk's ability to maintain management style and company productivity is what makes him such an inspirational leader for his teams. Based on his leadership style, he places a high value on relationship orientation. He is focused on maintaining strong relationships with employees while also providing the best possible care for them. He demonstrates an empathetic nature by supporting the needs of his employees' welfare, such as no-cost healthcare, insurance, and a variety of other benefits. He strives to maintain a close bond between leaders and employees by encouraging cultural mix traits and employing an open culture so that everyone in the organization is a contributor and feels at ease with one another. He is also a good listener, caring about all issues and problems that arise among employees and the organization. 5.0

LEADER’S POWER

Tan Sri Datuk Tiong Su Kouk, the founder and current Executive Chairman to the Board of CCK, faces a challenge because he must use his power wisely and not abuse it. As one of the top leaders, he has the authority to lead, make decisions, and give orders to his employees. His goal is to lead the team rather than follow it. He is carrying out responsibilities in the organization to influence teams through positive action. Tan Sri Datuk Tiong Su Kouk has proven to be a transformative and innovative leader who has brought significant success to CCK Group. Despite changing positions, stepping down, and facing failure, Tan Sri Datuk Tiong Su Kouk has consistently used his position power to inspire others where he has strong leadership traits, until he became a shining example of turning failure into success.

CONCLUSION

In Conclusion, Tan Sri Datuk Tiong Su Kouk is an admirable leader who has managed to stand out among other great CEOs. He has his own style of leading, guiding, communicating, and motivating his employees through positive actions that inspire them to do the same. His leadership style and qualities have clearly resulted in enormous success in developing one of the largest integrated poultry products and frozen seafood products. (1051 Words)
