Course: Advance Accounting Info (ACCT_757) Assignment 1 People who are visually impaired face many problems interacting with and using a computer. Research which input and output devices are specifically created to help the visually impaired use a computer. Write a one-page report describing these devices. In present, there are kind of technologies that helpful for visually impaired in performing everyday task. Such technologies consist of electronic devices equipped with sensors and processors capable of making intelligent decisions. Some of such input and output devices are described below: Input Devices: are any hardware component that allow the user to enter the data and instructions  Braille computing equipment: This includes braille displays, braille keyboards, and note takers with a braille keyboard. Braille display enables the user to read what’s on the computer screen by touch in braille.  Microphones: Are used with speech recognition software, allowing the user to dictate their input to the computer.  Gesture-recognition devices: The device recognizes hand gestures, head or eye movements, or read lips or sign language to input information into a computer.  Magnification devices: Enlarges the information displayed on the computer screen in a range of magnifications and a variety of fonts. The magnifier may have the ability to create a large, scrolling virtual screen, or may only magnify the portion of the display near the mouse pointer.  Large-key keyboards: The prints on the number and letter keys of the keyboard are three times larger than those on standard keyboards. The bright white printing on the large black keys increases visibility and the contrast makes it easier to read. These features are helpful to those with vision impairment and for those who wear reading glasses or bifocals, or work in low-lit areas. Output Devices: are any hardware components that can convey information to one or more persons.  Screen reader: A screen reader is a software application that attempts to identify and interpret what is being displayed on the screen  Voice Stick: Portable Text Scanning Device: When it scans printed letters, the OCR (Optical Character Recognition) function recognizes the texts and converts the written information into a voice.  Braille printers: It can be used to aid visually impaired users by printing the raised patterns of dots on special paper, thereby allowing them to read the text with their fingers.
