BIOLOGICAL PERSPECTIVE As a student with a strong background in science, I strongly associate with the biological perspective of behaviour. I tend to attribute behavioural actions to brain processes and bodily functions. The biological perspective has increased in popularity as we research and understand more about the brain and neural circuits.

RESEARCH VALIDITY Experimental research is extremely prevalent, especially currently regarding COVID-19. However, due to the nature of the disease and the urgency with which results are required, the validity of the conducted research becomes difficult to guarantee. Regardless, researchers follow protocols and minimize limitations of their research as much as possible.

CANNABIS ON THE BRAIN Cannabis is the most frequently used illicit substance in the world and has become legalized in Canada, stressing the importance of understanding its effects on the brain. For example, THC limits the effects of both inhibitory neurotransmitters

such as GABA and excitatory neurotransmitters such as glutamate, but has a net excitatory effect.

IDEAL MATE DIFFERENCES There are many similarities as well as differences between male and female preferences for mates. According the Buss' research, men tend to value physical attractiveness more than females, whereas females tend to value financial stability. Interestingly, these values remained constant regardless of culture, which may indicate a biological basis for ideal mate preferences.

OPTICAL ILLUSIONS Images with optical illusions such as the black and blue/white and gold dress have sparked massive internet debates. Illusions are erroneous perceptions, and can arise from many factors such as perceptual constancies. Personally, I have been able to see the dress in both colour schemes, and can influence my perception by mentally choosing one colour scheme over the other....
