JANRO V. TELMO BS CRIM LET US LEARN MORE: Activity 1 A. Go online and search for the relevance of creation to salvation. Make a synthesis on your new learning.

This chapter offers an overview of Catholic teaching on the relationship between creation and salvation. It begins by affirming the centrality to Christian theology of a fully Trinitarian vision of creation. Such a vision also involves a clearly articulated account of God’s noncompetitive relation to the world. The same account governs both an account of the Creator– creation relation and the relationship between the two natures of Christ. Catholic accounts of Christ’s work and the nature of salvation are steeped in the ritualistic and symbolic imagery of second-temple Judaism, and sustain—in the face of the sheer mystery of divine action—a multiplicity of metaphorical languages.

B.

Observe the surrounding or the environment. What revelation does this impart on you? -Revelation offers hope that justice will triumph over evil and encourages steadfast resistance to imperial and economic oppression. In a world where virtually everyone preaches self love and that you should first love and look out for yourself, the Bible teaches the exact opposite. The revelation is primarily understood as the “Word of God,” enabling the prophet to speak with certainty about God's actions and intentions.

Activity 2: I. Test Your Knowledge A. Define God’s revelation - Definition The word revelation means an uncovering, a removal of the veil, a disclosure of what was previously unknown. Revelation of God is God's manifestation of Himself to humankind in such a way that men and women can know and fellowship with Him. The knowledge of Jesus' sonship was not attained by human discovery, nor could it have been; it came from God alone. All Christians recognize that God has acted and spoken in history, revealing Himself to His creatures. Yet, a variety of opinions seek to define what constitutes revelation. B. Describe each stages of God’s revelation; 1. The Covenant with Noah - God’s covenant with Noah was a commitment to maintain the inherent relationship between Creator and creation; his relationship with the natural order – implicit in the act of creation – whereby he promised never again to destroy the earth with a flood. This divine pledge, given unconditionally to Noah and to every living creature on earth, was accompanied by the sign of the rainbow. We often read these Genesis passages from a merely human perspective, yet their relevance is more farreaching. We read them at a time when, according to the best studies,ii up to a quarter of the species of animals and plants of which we are aware, and with whom we share this earth, face extinction in the next fifty years.

2. God chooses Abraham - the trustee of the promise made to the patriarchs, the chosen people, called to prepare for that day when God would gather all his children into the unity of the Church. Abraham was called by God to leave his country and his people and journey to an undesignated land, where he became the founder of a new nation. As part of this last covenant, God asked Abraham to remove his foreskin and the foreskin of all Jewish boys after him.

3. God forms His people Israel

- Through the prophets, God forms his people in the hope of salvation, in the expectation of a new and everlasting Covenant intended for all, to be written on their hearts. The prophets proclaim a radical redemption of the People of God, purification from all their infidelities, a salvation which will include all the nations. Above all, the poor and humble of the Lord will bear this hope. Such holy women as Sarah, Rebecca, Rachel, Miriam, Deborah, Hannah, Judith and Esther kept alive the hope of Israel's salvation. The purest figure among them is Mary.

II. Check Your Understanding The following statements describe the story of creation. Identify which Chapter in Genesis does each belong, i.e. either in Genesis 1 or 2. Write the Chapter number (1 or 2) in the 2nd and 4th column of the table below. Genesis Gives a brief outline of God’s creation Sets out the purpose of creation

Make a thanksgiving prayer for God’s creation

God of all blessings, source of all life, giver of all grace: We thank you for the gift of life: for the breath that sustains life, for the food of this earth that nurtures life, for the love of family and friends without which there would be no life. We thank you for the mystery of creation: for the beauty that the eye can see, for the joy that the ear may hear, for the unknown that we cannot

behold filling the universe with wonder, for the expanse of space that draws us beyond the definitions of our selves. We thank you for setting us in communities: for families who nurture our becoming, for friends who love us by choice, for companions at work, who share our burdens and daily tasks, for strangers who welcome us into their midst, for people from other lands who call us to grow in understanding, for children who lighten our moments with delight, for the unborn, who offer us hope for the future. We thank you for this day: for life and one more day to love, for opportunity and one more day to work for justice and peace, for neighbors and one more person to love and by whom be loved, for your grace and one more experience of your presence, for your promise: to be with us, to be our God, and to give salvation. For these, and all blessings, we give you thanks, eternal, loving God, through Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.
