Journal for chapter 14....

Description

From page 447 of the book, the Malthus theorem states that population will grow geometrically, and food will grow arithmetically. This means that as the population continues to grow, the food growth will not be enough to support the population on Earth. Keeping this in mind, I would agree and stand with the side of Anti-Malthus side. This is more of the optimistic side of things and it basically is saying that the Earth is going to level itself out as life is increased. In this sense, using the same argument that Malthus had in the first place, if the population growth does outnumber the death rate, then there will be more population growth than food growth. As this happens, more and more people will be exposed to starvation. As more are exposed to starvation, the death rate also increases. When deaths are again above births, there will be an evening out between the two and the population will settle. This follows the same premise as Anti-Malthus that everything evens itself out in the end. If the opposing side actually turns out to be right, as stated above, there will still be a time period that people will be without food, and this will greater the chance that the population will begin to even itself off to a point where food can support the amount of people on Earth....
