Vince Young MGMT 3000 9/11/17 Professor Rhoads L3 Reflective Journal I really enjoyed reading this section. There is always something that’s pretty interesting that I can take away. I thought it was really interesting in the job satisfaction section that there is only a relationship with pay increase and job satisfaction up until $40,000 in annual income. I couldn’t believe it when I read that after that, that increasing pay doesn’t affect satisfaction. I can see how that makes sense, but also, at the same time think that I would probably disagree if it were happening to me. Reading about how personality influences satisfaction was cool. It seems pretty obvious that people that are generally negative tend to be dissatisfied in their jobs, but it was good to read it in a textbook. When I do think about the concept of a personality deciding whether they are satisfied with a job or not. I know tons of people that feel deep satisfaction from the challenges at their work, while others absolutely despise theirs because of the same challenges. I find that there are several sources of satisfaction for me – benefits, compensation, balance of life and work, overall corporate culture, and relationships at work. I will be able to improve my work life with the knowledge I’ve gained today because I have come to the realization that I can make the best of job satisfaction in whatever I do if I remain positive in my outlook on life. This will be very important in the next stages of my life because I will most likely be entering the career field, where I will be assigned to do less than satisfactory tasks. During these entry-level positions, I can have high job satisfaction if I have this positive outlook on life and the circumstances I’m in....
