Identify one way in which each of the following knots practiced in discussion can be used. a. Miller’s loop This can be used to secure the opening of a bag tightly. b. Quick release knot This is to keep animals restrained safely, the animal cannot pull their end out but by pulling the other end you stay safe. c. Bowline This is typically used in sailing boats. 2. Explain one reason why an animal would need to be restrained. It could be acting and moving in a dangerous manner towards others. 3. What are two types of restraint used with livestock? Give an example of each. Psychological (using body language and vocal directions), Physical (cane, halter/lead rope), Chemical (anesthesia, pain relief) 4. What is one unique type of restraint used for horses? In what situation would this be used? One type is called a twitch, and it is either a rope or a chain attached to a stick and you put the horses mouth through it and twist, sending out hormones to calm the horse. This is used during situations where the horse won’t stay still and is having a procedure done. 5. How has the amount of dairy products produced in the US changed in the recent past? The amount of milk we drink per person has gone down significantly, but the total milk consumption has gone up due to population increase....
