LAB QUESTIONS Forensic Science-Edgenuity When Dr. Bass works cases, either cold cases or ongoing investigation, what is his role in the investigation? He identifies bodies and who the person died. Also, he figures out how long they have been dead. What role does the Body Farm play in forensic science? It plays the role in collecting all the information that needs to be collected from a decomposing body which helps in the investigation. What is the “sniffer”? Why could this development be important? It picks up compounds given off by decaying human bodies. It helps for finding bodies buried under the ground which makes it very important to solve a case. Are insects a fool-proof way to determine time of death? Why or why not? Yes, because they actually eat the bodies the decomse which helps locate time of death to gather data. They can even locate a body far away and they just help with the investigation. The bugs are like a timestamp, since you can find a lot of evidence from the bugs. Why are family members or law enforcement personnel sometimes interested in having people like Dr. Bass take a look at old cases? So, they can learn more information about the death plus he can also help a cold case that hasn’t been solved. He can thoroughly examine bodies that have been dead for years, which can actually bring conclusions since he is so experienced....
