Water
Ethanol Tall Shiny Metal Short Golden Metal Short Dull Metal QUESTIONS - Answer the following question on a separate sheet of paper. Show all calculations.
1.
Using the defined freezing and boiling points of water, make a graph (see Appendix A for proper graphing techniques) of degrees Fahrenheit versus degrees Celsius on graph paper.
2.
Determine the Celsius equivalent of 88°F using your graph.
3.
The relationship between these two temperature scales is linear. Consult Appendix A regarding linear relationships and using the method of least squares determine the equation that relates degrees Fahrenheit to degrees Celsius. Make sure to show all your work.
4.
Compute the Celsius equivalent of 88°F using this relationship.
5.
Calculate % relative error for density of water and ethanol.
6.
Compare the volumes of the metal cylinders determined by the Archimedes’ method with the calculated volume based upon length and diameter.
7.
Being mindful of propagation of error, to what certainty are your calculated volumes (i.e. what is the ± in cm3?)...
