Description

Collaborative learning in my own understanding is an educational method to teaching and learning that involves class of students working together to fathom a problem, achieve a task, or design a product. Successful collaborative learning has the potential to bring out the unique strengths of each individual student while consolidating the work of the group through teamwork, cooperation and combined effort and resources.

This process of using groups to strengthen learning through working together. Groups of two or more learners work together to solve problems, complete tasks, or learn new concepts.

I think that one of the main benefits here is the fact, that working together and discussing different subjects students feel more confident about the theoretical knowledge they get. I think that one of the main benefits here is the fact, that working together and talk through different subjects students feel more confident about the theoretical knowledge they get.

College success to me means how well students are devised to achieve their academic, personal, and professional goals through the growth of knowledge, a sense of responsibility and self-sufficiency. Having to work in a sales environment, I find success in outstanding metrics. I feel successful when my team members meet their goals, and I can appraise those achievements. In the past, I regularly praised my team members for hitting personal and team goals, to keep team spirit up and led my group to reach some great numbers. To complete this degree, it would enhance my chances of getting a high-paid job successfully and I might be able to start my own business soon afterwards. My plan of action is somewhat unclear at this moment as I am still adapting to the whole learning at University of the People especially doing it online. This is my first university course and being 26 and I finished school 7 years ago. Here in Fiji you need at least an associate degree to get a decent job and not like before where your many years of experience made up for that. I want to show for myself and my family that everything is possible if you put your mind to it and set smart goals. It's quite challenging since I have to balance work and study. I am uncertain what future assignments will necessitate or how much time I will have to spend every week doing school work, but I have put up a timetable in which I can do my online courses and I am confident that I will succeed

Hello Ugochukwu Ifoh, Great first post here on the forum. I enjoyed reading your post. I agree with you concerning the in-depth nature of UoPeople and the collaborative learning aspect. It is quite a bit more then what I am used to. Peer-graded assignments are in my opinion outstanding to the learning process, especially with UoPeople being an entirely online accredited university. The inclusive nature of UoPeople you mentioned is spot on. Students from all walks of life are here. We must all learn and understand from others, we gain a lot of insight during the discussion forums. Also great use of citations and references.I really enjoyed reading your post. It is short, concise and straight to the point, making it easy to read and understand. I totally agree on the point where we may come to understand one another.

Humans are social creatures, there will inevitably be social interactions of some sort and we should be understanding to one another to avoid conflict and to progress together towards a brighter future. One of such social interactions by University of the People, is the use of the discussion forum. In the forum,we can share our own ideas and at the same time, learn the ideas of others.A great read and I agree with you that collaborative learning would help an individual explore their strengths and weaknesses. By interacting with others, we can evaluate ourstrengths and weaknesses. We can use this chance to learn from others and try to change our weaknesses to strengths. Since it is not about individual learning anymore, more towards how individuals can learn and work as a team, a bit of competitiveness within the group would help in developing new ideas to progress. This would in turn help to improve communication skills that would be an important skill in the future

 Reflect on your assignment with the comments  Think about possibilities to improve rather than that it is a reflection

of who you are (it is not, you are much more than one assignment or one Discussion Forum entry). The point is to understand any shortcomings or possibilities to improve and do well on these rather than anything else. Check-is there a solid introduction, body, and conclusion?  APA style of organizing a paper.

Citation, Paraphrasing and Quote with References If in doubt, ask a trusted friend or mentor.  Request the instructor’s intervention  Do not evaluate the work of another peer as a way of dealing with frustration. Apply healthy ways1. What is peer assessment, and why do we use it at University of the People? 1. What is peer assessment, and why do we use it at University of the People?

5.and rate the work at the end of unit in each week Peer assessment is the university of people education process where students evaluate each other and exchange experiences and knowledge and idea through using discussion forum activities that announced by course instructor, the work through peer to peer should evaluate and rate the work at the end of unit in each week. Peer assessment takes two main forms here at UoPeople. First, in discussions, you will rate and respond to at least three of your classmates’ discussion posts. Second, when you have a Written Assignment, you will peer assess three Written Assignments. The criteria to assess will always be provided; you just have to evaluate how well your peer met the criteria. While peer assessment doesn’t always involve conversation, it does involve several skills that will enhance your own learning. You’ll need to read carefully, and to assess, you’ll need to understand the concepts you’re assessing. The best way to understand something is to teach it- when peer assessing, you will reach a deeper understanding of course concepts. Peer assessment is the tool used by university of people that allowed its student to discuss topic and learn by monitoring and under supervision by course instructor. As Elsevier Ltd. (2016) stated that “the methodical assessment and the kind of dictation used indicate directions for greater involvement and responsibility from part of students in his learning. Existing literature identifies the need to develop students’ skills, knowledge by proving them with opportunities for self-assessment and peer assessment on regular basis through constructive feedback” (p.418). I am agreed with the points above that Peer assessment helps student to assist their capacity and education knowledge by crossing over peer work and providing feedback. 4. What are the challenges of receiving peer feedback in peer assessment? At the same time the peer feedback assessment will not be different from peer assessment. Assaid peer assessment helps students develop their academic skills and learning way of discussion in positive or give feedback to peer in academic process by doing education objectives of the course in a more pragmatic way. Application of knowledge is emphasized inPeer Assessment that helps all students to involve in getting deep in knowledge and apply it. As part of peer assessment, students learn and improve on how to give and accept constructive criticism as well as provide positive feedback. Peer assessment is a new process to a lot of students. It takes a while to get used to something new in different to us as the student in university of people.

5. What strategies will you use to peer assess written assignments? How will you as-sess discussion assignments? There are many strategies that used in university of people to assess peer as in following two main points:

1. steps in assessing Peer Assessment in the university. Read the rubrics and the marks allocated for each written assignment. Read through the essay. Assign the marks Make sure to include the justification on the assignment to the peer as this helps the recipient understand their shortcomings and improve.  Value added: learn about assessments, feedback and its application of learning. 4. During college, students will be required to write a lot of assignments, which will contribute to their final grade. Therefore, college students need to learn how to write college-level writing. So, students

must search and plan a helpful strategy that will assess them during writing. This is why I want to share a strategy I learned from (College Success, 2015., p.282-284), which consist of three stages: During college, students will be required to write a lot of assignments, which will contribute to their final grade. Preparing before drafting:  Discuss what you read, see, and hear.  Brainstorm.  Keep a journal in which you respond to your assigned readings.  Ask and respond in writing to “what,” “why,” and “how” questions.

 In your notes, respond directly to what others have written or said about a topic you are interested in. 1. Writing the draft:  Write a short statement of intent or outline your paper before your first draf. 3. Write down on a card or a separate sheet of paper what you see as your paper’s main point or thesis. 4. Reverse outline your paper. 5.  Don‘t obsess over detail when writing the draf. 6.  Read your draf aloud 3.
