Summary

Lecture summary of lecture 2 talking about IEQ and the 4 main categories around it as well as human input and the positive outcomes from learning from occupants...

Description

Lecture 2 focused on IEQ. IEQ is built off of VC, IAQ, TC, and AC. All of these factors are to ensure the comfort of an occupant residing in a building. The lecture discussed how occupants are cast away when getting involved in the designing process. However, it was shown that the design process is more effective and suitable towards the land and residents when passive observations could be made through occupant-building interactions. Furthermore, occupants' interactions in the building provides useful information; human input, interface, interface context, logic, system/actuator, and actuator context. By utilizing this info., engineers can better design the buildings that are more accustomed to the climate, and more importantly, the residents. For example, engineers can equip tools in the building such as CBE Thermal Comfort Tool when studying the average behaviour of the residents. In future lessons, I hope to broaden my knowledge on this topic....
