Indigenous VS Settlers Indigenous Values: RESPECT  Ainu- the indigenous people of Japan  Sense of unity with nature, creatures and plants  Large sense of respect o More respected if…  You uphold traditions/customs  Respect for women and children  Respect for age (elders) and their wisdom  Authentic to tribe/people  Identity- non-materialistic  Locating for indigenous people include: which tribe they’re apart of and/or land (Less individualistic)  Hunting= respect and pray for animals before kill them  Connected community Settlers Values: INDIVIDUAL SUCCESS/ACHIEVEMENT  Rows  Very individualistic, grades, social status, financial status = being the best  Individual **A sense of moral actions based in ether collectivity or individual  Moral guidelines that are not religious
