Jennifer Jones

Attended Ms Jennifer Jones aged 45 years. She has worked for Mrs Vera Bunting of 4 The Close, St Albans as a cleaner and home help for the last four years. The hours of work are variable but Jennifer never works less than 12 hours a week. Her duties include cleaning and ironing. Once a week she collects Mrs Bunting’s shopping from Tesco on her way to work. Jennifer also usually takes Mrs Bunting’s dog for a walk round the block before going home. Jennifer got the job from an advert in the post office. She has never had anything in writing from Mrs Bunting except for one letter last summer after Jennifer had been off work sick, sending her some money she said was sickness pay and saying she was going to put Jennifer’s wages up to £10.50 per hour. Jennifer is paid weekly at the rate of £10.50 per hour and gets one week paid holiday at Christmas, another week at Easter and two weeks in the summer. Jennifer pays her own National Insurance stamp. Mrs Bunting has always been fairly irascible but Jennifer is used to dealing with elderly people and usually manages to cope with her moods. However, last week Mrs Bunting accused Jennifer of stealing one of her books and Jennifer is upset about this. Mrs Bunting has told told Jennifer that as she is considering giving her the sack. Prepare a memorandum on the advice we will give Jennifer at our first meeting and what documents you would like to see.
