Description

Luzinterruptus’ Waste Labyrinth One piece of sustainable art that I found interesting is Luzinterruptus’ Waste Labyrinth. Sometimes I feel as if it is hard to personally connect with some art as well as with certain environmental problems due to the fact that they don’t impact my everyday life. This labyrinth lets you really get involved in the art and even get literally lost in it. By being surrounded and essentially trapped in a maze of our own waste, it can make you understand how animals in the ocean feel. By bringing plastic pollution to a busy location in Europe, this artist has removed the lack of emotion that separates us from environmental problems. Walking through the maze also evokes a sense of how unnatural the plastic around you is. We don't usually encounter this much plastic, but having it all in one place is quite breathtaking. I also think this maze is a really great piece of environmental art because it appeals to such a variety of viewers. Children who are not usually interested in art or environmental policy could play in the maze and learn about the effects of drinking plastic water bottles among other things. Although this is not a traditional piece of art, I believe it is extremely effective and also very intriguing.
