Description

Lyft’s sustainable competitive advantage According to Iqbal (2020), Lyft's competitive advantage is that it focuses on its long-term aim of offering easy service while boosting passenger comfort during the commute. This is accomplished through providing passengers with the ability to review drivers and by soliciting anonymous feedback on possible improvements in the service (Lyft Website, 2020). For their passengers, Lyft provides access to low-cost transportation and flexible income opportunities that help them achieve their economic mobility goals. Additionally, Lyft offers premium trips in high-end automobiles such as the BMW 5 Series or Cadillac Escalade (Lyft Website, 2020). A shared ride service like Lyft and the Lyft XL allows individuals to connect with each other socially, bringing people and the community closer together (Lyft Website, 2020). With the hiring of 400 engineers to work on two unique self-driving vehicles, it is contributing to the reduction of carbon emissions from the transportation environment (Kolodny et al., 2019). The role that technology and information systems play in creating and maintaining the company’s competitive advantage. The future of transportation in major cities throughout the world is being shaped by new technology. Most of the innovation in transportation comes from ridesharing, which allows people to get short-term transportation modes based on their needs. Rideshare service Lyft is one of the largest in North America, aiming to make transportation more convenient and affordable for its consumers. Since Lyft's inception, the company has grown its client base and income by delivering on its promise to meet the immediate requirements of both consumers and businesses. Additionally, Lyft is striving to develop a socially and ecologically responsible business; by 2030, the company hopes to have all of its vehicles converted to electric vehicles in order to reduce pollution. Discuss where the company has succeeded where their competitors have failed… consider what role, if any, information systems play in this success. Provide at least one example. In order to meet the needs of people from all walks of life, Lyft provides a variety of transportation options (Sherman, 2020). In comparison with the incentives offered by Uber, Lyft member subscriptions provide substantially better value because they include discounts of 15% on all car trips, priority airport pickup, no cancellation costs for the first three rides, waived lost and found fees, and much more (Kunesh, 2020). When compared to Uber, Lyft offers roughly $2 more per hour in wages, offers bonuses of up to $5,000 per month, and doesn't take any commissions or fees from its chauffeurs (Farrington, 2020). Lyft’s relationship with its customers. To maintain its position as a leading ridesharing company, Lyft is committed to offering its users a selection of high-quality, affordable, and time-saving transportation options. Aiming to make people's lives easier by providing the finest possible transportation options, Lyft has steadily grown its client base and income since its launch in 2012. Lyft has also built and strengthened its competitive edge by earning the trust of both consumers and staff alike. Lyft is creating a brand name that does not criticize Uber in order to improve its recognition among customers (Somerville, 2019). Lyft is also studying the possibility of self-driving cars

in order to improve their reputation in the automobile sector by cooperating with a number of other companies (Mainwaring, 2018). References Farrington, R. (2020).
