Character Development (reveals the witches to be very opposite to human ways and opinions). 2) The King to Ross explaining that he will make Macbeth the new Thane of Cawdor, to replace the old one who betrayed him. Develops the plot (the prophecies start to become true). Character development (reveals the king to trust Macbeth and think of him as a friend). 3) Banquo speaking to Macbeth about part of the prophecy coming true. Good vs Evil. Foreshadowing.
