Checklist and Recommendations for a Successful MAP Deadlines: •
Project report (“2.250-3.000 Wörter (ohne Materialanhang)”) is due by 31.03.2019 via Moodle, but may be submitted earlier.
•
You will have to conduct your own literature and data analysis.
•
May be written in English or German, and will be assessed equally, with no preference given to either language.
Clear introduction: •
Why is this topic important? => relevance
•
What do I want to do? => Clear problem and research question (First…second… third)
•
What is the structure of the report? => Structure of content
Background: •
Who did already research on this topic?
•
Is there reason for discussion because of different point of views by authors/ in the research topic?
•
What is currently understood, what is still missing? (State of research)
•
An analysis of scientific/professional research literature is needed
Theoretical / Conceptual Framework: •
Explain the theoretical framework you are going to use
•
Explain how the research question(s) will be operationalized accordingly
Methods: •
What methodologies were used to collect the data?
•
What were difficulties?
•
What method did I use to evaluate/ analyse the data (Are there any established techniques or practices (please cite sources)?
•
Check the reliability and authenticity of data (please also critically reflect on your own situation as researcher)
Results: •
Present your findings; use figures, tables, images, maps, charts, etc. Be creative!
•
Answer your research question with the help of your findings
•
Present your findings, but also discuss and interpret them!
•
Connect your findings critically with the current state of research
Conclusion: •
Once again clearly and briefly sum up your thesis and answer to your research question.
•
Relevance to “the big picture”?
•
Further research needs? Outlook?
•
Do not introduce any new ideas here! The conclusion only summarises your findings and their importance.
Multimedia Content •
The appropriate and adept use of multimedia (e.g., maps, online content, video/audio, interviews, photography, etc.) will be considered a significant contribution to the final product, and your MAP will be assessed with consideration for these materials in lieu of elements appearing in the written report.
Important: •
All parts of the report are related to the research question
•
The state of research is the framework for your empirical analysis.
•
Therefore, your empirical findings have to draw from and connect to the state of research.
•
Provide a references list, with all sources correctly and consistently cited in a format of your choice (APA 6th, for example).
Pay attention to: •
Am I aware of what I am talking about? (i.e. foreign, unknown words; Can I respond to questions related to the topic?)
•
Did anyone else countercheck the report? (i.e. comprehension, repetitions, spelling and standard usage?)
•
Do I have proof for everything without relying on non-scientific sources (Wikipedia etc.)?
•
Do I correctly cite all my sources throughout the report?
•
Did I stick to the guideline for project reports (if requested)?
•
Is this my own body of work including my thoughts or am I just using already existent research without adding any discussions, proofs or further information?
•
Does my paper have the requested length/extent?
•
Did I meet the deadline?...
