Office Hours: Mon./Wed. 3:00-4:30 Course Web Page: On Math department website, click here. Contains numerous exam preparation materials and syllabus. Syllabus: Topic only version may be found on the Math 112 course page. Prerequisite: This is the second part of a two-course sequence Math 111/112, which covers the same material as Math 115 but at a slower pace. Students in Math 112 should already have solid Math 111 skills and a very good understanding of the Math 111 material as those skills and understandings will be used in Math 112. In particular, students who earned a final course grade of D or a low "C" in Math 111, should leverage strongly the Math 111 material covered at the beginning of the Math 112 syllabus. Textbook: Stewart, etc., Precalculus: Mathematics for Calculus w/Enhanced WebAssign, 7th Edition –Custom, 2015, Cengage Publishing.    

WebAssign software required for first class. Free trial available through first two weeks of class. Enrollment instructions provided later in document. E-version of text provided with WebAssign. Hard copy of text optional. Purchasing options: Student may use same software/text purchased previously for Math 111. Those repeating class may use previously purchased software if it hasn’t expired.

Class Key for WebAssign:Use the correct key according to your section number. Section 01 : Rutgers 1319 9382 Section 02 : Rutgers 0810 6804 Section 03 : Rutgers 5306 5132 Course Purpose: This course provides the second part of an essential foundation and skills for students to next take, and succeed in, Calculus (Math 135 or Math 151). Topics to be addressed include algebraic expressions, algebraic equations, graphing, and application problems applied to exponential, logarithmic and trigonometric functions.

Study Time: Both concepts and skills are emphasized in this course. In order to develop your skills properly, and thoroughly understand the concepts, most students need to put in 3-4 hours of study time for every hour spent in class. It is also expected that study time would increase beyond the 3:l ratio, one to two weeks before each exam, and two to three weeks before the final. It has been shown that students who have reviewed material on a topic prior to it being covered in lecture have higher success in the course. In that regard, for each topic to be covered, WebAssign has short videos (under Resources) to help you better prepare. Attendance: You are expected to attend class at the official meeting times. Each lecture is delivered remotely and synchronously in the meeting period through Webex on the Canvas site. Recitation will also include use of Zoom meeting. All students are expected to participate actively during lecture and recitation. Important (Tentative) Dates: Exam 1: 2/24 Exam 2: 4/5 Final Exam: XXX (4pm-7:00pm) (Fixed date) Regular classes end: 5/3 Technology Requirements: All students in this course are required to have the following working technology: a) High-speed internet

b) Webcam c) Laptop or Desktop computer

b) Microphone

All quizzes and exams will be authenticated (proctored) and all students consent to have videos of themselves recorded as needed for authentication purposes. More detail may be found on the Math department website. Click here. Please visit the Rutgers Student Tech Guide page for resources available to all students. If you do not have the appropriate technology for financial reasons, please email Dean of Students ([email protected]) for assistance.
