Station Activity 12.5.17

Build It! Content Standard: • K.2(I) compose and decompose numbers up to 10 with objects and pictures Process Standard: • K.1(C) select tools, including real objects, manipulatives, paper and pencil, and technology as appropriate, and techniques, including mental math, estimation, and number sense as appropriate, to solve problems Materials: • Laminated “Build it” cards • Connecting Cubes (at least 3) • Expo Markers • “I Can” card Description of Activity: • The students will work in the station with the connecting cubes • The students will follow the problems on the laminated “Build it” cards and pull out the correct number of cubes • The student will connect the two numbers of cubes and then come up with a new total of cubes • The students will write the new sum on the laminated card • Once the students have gone through all the pre-made cards, the students will use the math talk cards to create their own math problems
