Meal Planning for Lipids PART A

The acronym AMDR stands for the Acceptable Macronutrient Distribution Rate. It is a measurable range of specific energy that is measured to reduce the risks of chronic diseases. The three primary nutrients that are measured are protein, carbohydrates, and lipids. Lipids are naturally occurring organic compounds that the masses know as fats and oils. For lipids, the recommended AMDR is between 20 to 35 percent of one’s daily lipids intake. Excessive weight gain and/or obesity is the result of too many lipids being stored rather than used by the human body (Snow, B. & Zimmerman, M., 2012). Lipids can be found in animals and plants alike, while taking the form of either saturated or unsaturated. Initially, I had a negative perception of lipids due to the connotations associated with fats in the realm of dieting. With constant condemnation of fats of any kind in our society today, I fell in the wagon wheel of having a bitter taste in my mouth when fats are mentioned. In my personal experience and whilst participating in hearsay, lipids of all kinds have been more bitter than sweet and ultimately to be avoided at all costs. Upon reading more information about lipids, I learned that my disgust has been misplaced and was due to ignorance. This perception has been proven to be folly. Lipids are just as important and beneficials as the other primary nutrients. Lipids act as the structural components of the cell membrane, acts as intracellular messengers (these are substances that are released from one cell to assist or modify other cells), and act as signaling molecules. These biological functions are astronomically important in the grand scheme of the human body when it comes to functioning properly. There is a reason for lipids being considered a primary nutrient and these reasons are

Meal Planning for Lipids widely unknown to the public populace. I believe this to be a major disservice to those who struggle, fear, do not know/understand this useful and necessary source of energy.
