MFET 4210.101 Lab #3: Mastercam Exercise 3 2/4/19 Freddy Huerta
Introduction:
Program used was Mastercam 2018 Cutting pattern was point to point drilling and continuous end milling of outer details. Workpiece was 4032 alloy steel with 215 HB
Sequence Of Operation: 1. 1in endmill 2. 0.7in endmill 3. 2.5in endmill
1. Used the 1in endmill to reduce the rectangular workpiece and add the chamfers(45deg), fillets to spec of the drawing. Also make the right-side detail as it is 1in diameter circles. 2. Used the 0.7 in endmill to make the left side hole detail. 3.Used the larger 2.5in endmill to make the middle hole and bottom half hole.
This sequence will ensure that the workpiece material removal process starts from the outside and moves to the inside of the piece.
Tooling Used:
1in HSS Tool 0.7in HSS Tool 2.5in HSS Tool (all in diameters) Tool material is High speed steel a steel that can be hardened to a high or initial room temperature and range in hardness from 63-65Rc. Maintains good hardness at temperatures such as 1000 degrees Fahrenheit. 12 X (CuttingSpeed ) π (toolDiam) IPR=(feed)(Teeth) IPM= (RPM)(IPR)
RPM=
Tool specs: Feed= 0.015 (for all tools) Cutting speed= 5 SFPM (for all tools) (Table 11 based on workpiece specs) For 1in diameter tool RPM= 19.1 IPR=0.03
IPM=0.573
0.7in tool RPM=27.3 IPR=0.03 IPM=0.82 2.5in tool RPM=7.64 IPR=0.03 IPM=0.23
