Description

Name: Caroline Gerges Experiment #3: Equipotential Surfaces Date: 9/10/2020 Roll #9

Introduction: The purpose of this lab is to understand the relation between the electric field lines and the equipotential surfaces as well as study cases of 2 point charges pf opposite charges and cases of oppositely charged conductor parallel plates. Field lines are very important because they are a convenient way to represent the electric field. The number of filed lines crossing a unit area and the intensity of the field are proportional to each other. Field lines will always start at the positive charge and end at the negative charge and they will never cross each other. In part one of this lab we used a simulation to study the equipotential surfaces for two oppositely charged point charges. For the second part of this experiment we used another simulation to study filed lines for a parallel conductor plates. For the third part of this experiment we watched a video to understand spherical conductor and oppositely charged conductor plates. For the last part of this lab we studied a case with a circular conductor and one conductor plate that are oppositely charged. Data:
