ASSESSMENT 1: ADAPTIVE READING Weeks 2-5 and 7-10: Every Monday at 4pm. Late submissions are not possible for this assessment 8% (1% per Adaptive Reading) Online weekly exercises on the McGraw-Hill Education Connect® platform Not applicable Connect® platform, accessible via Moodle
DETAILS The purpose of the weekly Adaptive Reading is to use the Connect® platform, accessible via Moodle, so that you regularly read and engage in adaptive learning exercises. These exercises use adaptive technology that provides you with real-time feedback and devises a personalised pathway for you to master the course content. The Core Concept Videos (lectures) will reinforce and extend this course content, with a focus on how we customise this material for MGMT1001 assessments. Activities in the Learning Journal and tutorials will then largely focus on refining this knowledge and learning to apply the course concepts.
EVALUATION CRITERIA Each week, after reading the allocated textbook sections, you will need to correctly answer a predetermined number of multiple-choice or short answer questions on the Connect® platform. The Connect® platform questions are likely to take about 30 minutes, and sometimes longer. The actual amount of time varies because if you answer a question incorrectly, the Connect® platform will generate an additional question for you to ensure that you have a basic understanding of core course concepts. Incorrect answers do not affect your score; it just means it will take you longer to complete the exercises. If you have purchased the digital version of the textbook, when a question is answered incorrectly, you have the option of reviewing the relevant textbook section to assist your learning.
TERM 2, 2020
There are 8 weeks of adaptive readings; one per week except not in weeks 1 and 6. For each set of weekly adaptive readings completed successfully by Monday 4pm in weeks 2-5 and 7-10, you will receive 1 mark. If you do not start the Adaptive Reading prior to the deadline, you will receive 0 marks. If you start but do not complete it before the deadline, you will receive partial marks based on the percentage of correct answers you have completed.

PURPOSE The purpose of the PDP Report is to engage in analytical self-reflection of your professional skills and to develop SMART goals to work on whilst completing MGMT1001 and your degree. This will set you up with a process for your professional development, a critical skill to become competitive in the employment market.
SECTION 1: SELF-REFLECTION Write this section in paragraph form, NOT in tables or bullet point format. Select one or two topics covered in this course. Your selection needs to enable you to identify one strength and one development area in your professional skills. Engage in evidence-based analyses of your professional skills in these areas by linking them to relevant course concepts. Evidence is needed from all the following sources, though note their differing importance. (1) Concepts covered in the course textbook/lectures. (2) Insights from your reading of two academic journal articles not included in the course materials. This could be new concepts or
additional evidence for concepts already existing in the course. (3) Data and insights from at least two selfassessment activities on the Connect® platform and/or provided on the course Moodle page. The course concepts and academic articles are evidenced based frameworks that need to be in the foreground, driving the analysis in your report. The self-assessments provide some quantitative data, background information to verify your self-analysis.
SECTION 2: SMART GOALS Write this section in table form using the SMART format used in tutorials. Based on your analysis in Section 1, outline two SMART goals to develop your professional skills – one strength and one development area – to improve your professional development skills across MGMT1001 and the remainder of your time at university. These goals need to be linked to your self-reflection in Section 1. To identify the Specific and Attainable behaviours in your SMART goals, draw on specific course frameworks and theories.
