Syllabus The major activity in this unit is for students to spend a minimum of 100 hours, working with an employer on a business related project. One month is defined for the purposes of this unit as 20 working days. The work experience may be undertaken during the semester, during the break prior to the semester in which the student is enrolled in the unit or by a combination of the two. Students will be required to prepare a detailed report on their experiences including samples of work undertaken, an analysis of the organisation and the role of business within it, discussion of business issues encountered, recommendations to the employer on the organisation's business practices, and an up -to-date curriculum vitae including reference to the completed internship.

Introduction The Faculty of Business and Law, through industry connected innovative teaching and research, develops internationally focused graduates committed to excellence. This mission, combined with other strategic objectives, highlights a commitment to providing students with opportunities to participate in internships and other work related learning activities. This unit responds directly to that mission by providing business internship opportunities in organisations that give students access to a diverse range of business related experiences and activities. By undertaking this unit, you will be exposed to the ‘real world of work’ – gaining valuable experience in a professional environment, while at the same time, developing a wide range of generic and professional skills. You will gain knowledge and understanding of the operational and cultural aspects of an organisation and its people. And remember, you will also have the opportunity to build up a network of valuable contacts. 

Please note students undertaking internships need to follow the assessment schedule associated with the teaching period of their enrolment. 
