As children, we learn the Pledge of Allegiance in grade school, which ends with "one Nation indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all" (Bellamy, 1892). However, when it comes to our current Healthcare system, it feels more like "with Liberty and Justice for only those who can afford it." Regardless of someone's financial situation, it is a right for each citizen to have personal and public safety. The right to health for all people means that everyone should have access to the health services they need, when and where they need them, without suffering financial hardship (Dr. Ghebreyesus, 2017). Providing universal health care would also encourage patients to practice access to preventive care. Many uninsured Americans or they have insurance but with high deductibles go without doctor visits for minor health problems or preventive medicine.

First personal and public safety is a right that we all believe in, ascribe to, and pay to uphold. The Government does this in a way such as providing definitive means of protection through a police force and legislation to protect public and personal safety. So why shouldn't we want to protect the right to be healthy? Our health, wellness, and safety should be treated as equally important. Furthermore, with universal Healthcare, the main advantage is that it gives people that cannot afford Healthcare the services they need. This system provides essential services for all citizens, and it does not discriminate against anyone ("Pros and cons of Universal Healthcare, 2018'). Which, again, should be every citizen's right.

Second 2018, the U.S. spent 16.9 percent on health care, nearly twice as much as other countries. Switzerland's second-highest ranking country spent 12.2 percent, while New Zealand

3 and Australia devote only 9.3 percent, approximately half as much as the U.S. does on their health care needs (Tikkanen & K. Abrams, 2020). Americans spend more on their health care needs than they do on housing or food. We spend more yet do not have the outcomes as other countries even with some of the best technology.

Third, preventive health care measures an individual takes to prevent illness or diseases that may or may not arise in the future. In 2018, 8.5 percent of people, or 27.5 million, did not have health insurance at any point during the year. The uninsured rate and number of uninsured increased from 2017 (7.9 percent or 25.6 million)" (U.S. Census Bureau, 2019). Going without preventive care due to being uninsured results in health problems that could be caught early or prevented altogether going untreated until they become major health problems. With universal health care, routine physicals, mammograms, and colonoscopy are just a few of many that could prevent major problems and save lives.

Finally, "We must all work together to combat inequalities and discriminatory practices so that everyone can enjoy the benefits of good health, no matter their age, sex, race, religion, health status, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or migration status" (Dr. Ghebreyesus, 2017). The right to health for all people means that everyone should have access to the health services they need, when and where they need them, without suffering financial hardship. Providing universal health care would benefit the country as a whole.
