1. Explain why Amazon is called the “Walmart of the web.” Amazon is called “the Walmart of the web because it sells everything. Not only grocery, or toys, or clothes but just everything else like Walmart does but in the online platform. 2.

Identify two advantages that Amazon has that support their efforts to provide a good experience for their customers who want to shop on-line. First of all, Amazon offers free returns on every product just like the Walmart. It is a big advantage for customers that makes people not to be afraid to order something that is not going to fit/work for them or etc. So, easy and free returns is a huge advantage Amazon has. Secondly, Amazon offers a prime membership which allows people to receive their order the same day or the next day. Walmart doesn’t have this option; their shipping prices are more expensive, and shipping takes longer. Amazon created an amazing opportunity for people “to go to the Walmart online” by creating free and fast shipping for the affordable yearly price.

Describe two advantages that Walmart has. The biggest advantage that Walmart has is that its physical. Not everybody and not all the time people are willing to shop online. Sometimes customers choose offline shopping to the online one, because they want to physically see/touch/smell BEFORE making a purchase. Walmart gives this option and Amazon doesn’t. The best example for this will be grocery shopping. Not everybody is willing to buy groceries online, they would rather go themselves and pick with their own hands. The second advantage can be the amount of the physical locations. Walmart has a bunch of stores nationwide, it is accessible within about 10-15 minute’s drive everywhere in a country, and Amazon doesn’t have these many stores available for physical shopping.

Describe four ways that Walmart is using technology to increase its on-line presence to compete against Amazon. 1. Walmart offers an opportunity for both offline and online shopping in a store. The touch screens located in some of the Walmart allows customers to place an order or look up another location to make a purchase if this specific Walmart is out of the product. 2. Walmart offers a pick up opportunity. To cut the costs and give its customers a better price, Walmart made it possible for customers to shop online and pick up in the store for free. 3. It has an option of placing an order online and paying in a store for those people who doesn’t have a credit card or willing to pay cash only. 4. Walmart also improves website and creates additional phone applications for better service

List two ways that Walmart’s fulfillment centers support their e-commerce efforts. Walmart is using omnichannel approach to retailing, it means it simply offers a physical face-toface customer experience as well as the online one. Walmart also expands its online inventory, which gives people more options in online shopping and fulfillment centers are needed for storing goods....
