Personally I think that Mr. Bean is the character which embodies the true British icon. Thanks to his gestures, his facial expressions and his habits, we can learn many things on the Britishness. Indeed, Mr. Bean is a popular character which reflects the British way of being. All British stereotypes appear in his films. First, he shows clearly the British sense of humor. Indeed, he’s a childish buffoon. He never stops being childish and refuses to grow out of farting, burping and playing videogames. Moreover, he has a closer relationship with his teddy bear. But if there's one trait of the Britishman that Bean particularly embodies, it's the distinct inability to communicate with the opposite sex. Indeed, he has no idea how to talk to women. Then, he is always drinking his beloved tea. It’s the most popular drink of Britain. That is part of Britishness, along with more general cultural aspects like the Queen, the Double-deck bus, their famous fish and chips and last but not least, the rain. Finally, he’s socially anxious. He is utterly confused by the complexities of modern life. Even though he has an important British characteristic: resourcefulness. Mr Bean might have caused his own problems but he isn’t afraid to find an original solution to solve them.
