Description

Benzoic acid’s chemical formula C6H5COOH. It is also called Benzene carboxylic acid and has a molecular weight of 122.12 g/mol. At room temperature it is a white crystalline solid. Benzoic acid is not highly flammable. It is highly reactive in excessive temperature and heat. Benzoic acid reacts with a strong oxidizing agents, strong bases and alkalies. The most common first aid treatment is to remove contaminated clothing and shoes immediately. Wash affected area with soap or mild detergent and large amounts of water until no evidence of chemical remains. The HMIS ratings are health-2, flammability-1, physical hazard-0 and personal protective equipment- E. I personally feel that Benzoic acid is safe to work because it is nontoxic and stable under normal conditions.
