My Compass Activity Workview Why do we work? We work to make an income in order to provide a lifestyle we are satisfied with. Essentially, we work to survive. We also work to improve and develop our knowledge and skills. Working helps us achieve a sense of purpose and meaning to our lives. We work in order to keep us motivated and boost our productivity. What does work mean for you?

Work is something that I should be committed to. I should be passionate about what I’m doing. Work should be something that I am constantly learning and growing from. Work to me means having a job that gives me a sense of purpose and gives my life meaning – something to look forward to/something that keeps me motivated. I should be able to set goals and feel accomplished after achieving them. What defines good or worthwhile work? Good and worthwhile work should be something that you are passionate about that gives you a sense of purpose – something that makes you feel accomplished and like you’re making a difference. For work to be worthwhile, it should be something that keeps you motivated and content. How important is job advancement and growth to you? Job advancement and growth is significantly important as it keeps me motivated. Growth allows for knowledge and skills to be developed which could lead to greater success in the future. Job advancement and growth allows for new challenges to be encountered, minimising repetitive work, keeping the job interesting.

Lifeview What gives your life meaning? Meaning is added to my life when I have a sense of purpose and I constantly have something to look forward to. Having a sense of belonging and supportive friends and family also adds meaning to my life. Freedom and being able to make my own choices that lead to either success or failure gives my life meaning. What makes life worthwhile, valuable and satisfying? A valuable life is made by having family and friends who support you no matter the circumstance. Being financially independent and being able to provide for yourself makes for a satisfying life. Life is worthwhile, valuable and satisfying when you encounter new experiences, new challenges and setting goals, big or small. Constantly learning and growing also make a life worthwhile. What can’t you tolerate in life? Injustice and racism. Toxic people – Constantly adding negativity into my life. Lack of support from them. Can’t be happy when something good happens in my life. Manipulative. What is non-negotiable to you? Having a strong moral compass/is ethical – having good values and principles. These include honesty, trust, acceptance, equality, open-mindedness.
