Ceres is with her mother, working in the garden when she sees a flower a little farther away and she runs to see what it is. The flower is actually an enchantment an old man put to lure her in, and he takes her to his home far away Ceres is held for many years, but finally decides to escape. She is able to ring the bell at the top of the house in morse code. Another man here’s this call for help and comes to rescue her. He kills the old man, and safely rescues Ceres. Ceres thanks the man, and eventually falls in love with him. They have a lone child. Ceres is older with a daughter named Proserpina. Ceres is working in the field. Proserpina wanders off.

Voice How? Think of how you would like your reader to feel after finishing your story. Brainstorm ways to use different literary devices to establish tone and emotion. List the literary devices you intend to use, and provide at least one example of each.

Imagery- use of descriptive words to enhance the sense- I would use this when describing the garden, or the dark room, or the characters Symbolism- I’m trying to convey a message with this story, so certain people and objects will be symbols of things in that message (ie the old man, the flower, the mystery man, etc.) Metaphors and Similes- keep the reader intrigued by using devices such as these to get the reader the understand the text even more: when describing the dark, gloomy room, or the garden.\ Point of View: What point of view will you use in your story? I will use the semi-omniscient POV. Why did you choose that point of view? I chose this because I want to feel like I’m narrating the story, but not reveal too many details to the reader. Tone—What is the attitude of your story? Pace—How fast is your story going to move? Words to describe the tone: What pace fits your narrative: Success, grit, Triumphant, perseverance.

!Medium paced.

!

Why?

How will you communicate that tone?

!I want to take my time with the details, but not to the point where I’m boring the reader.

!Through the use of literary devices to enhance the message. How do you want readers to feel after they read your story?

How will you create that pace?

Curious about the sequel (this is a prequel, so maybe the original).

I will create this pace by taking my time describing things in the scene, and not jumping from scene to scene too much, but trying to connect everything....
