The New Deal: Alphabet Soup In a group of TWO or SOLO you will be assigned one of the many New Deal programs to create a DIGITAL POSTER (google drawing) and INFOMERCIAL. Presentations will take place on Wednesday, April 4th. You will present your information by delivering a 60-90 second speech/infomercial (90 seconds maximum! I will have a stopwatch) that advertises your New Deal program to Americans. You should portray yourself as the head of your New Deal agency. Treat the poster and speech as an infomercial; you are selling your government agency to the public. Information you should include on the poster: ● ● ● ● ● ●

What was the agency’s purpose? Why was it created? Was it relief, recovery, or reform? When it was created (what “era” of the New Deal, First or Second)? Was it successful or not? What was its impact on the Great Depression, or its lack of impact in some cases. Does it still exist today? If not, why is it no longer in existence? If so, how many people does it employ? Specific facts: budget, number of people employed, locations, etc. Please include visuals related your agency (logo, pictures, projects, etc.)

The list: 1. Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) We will present them to the class either at the point they come up in lecture, or if they don’t, at the end of the discussion. Make sure you mention which of the 3 R’s your agency falls under (RELIEF, RECOVERY, or REFORM) when you present.
