Residents at care homes are experiencing low rates of visitation from family members. Family members are unlikely to visit due to the negative atmosphere and lack of privacy.

An onsite café run by the care home, with private rooms branching off. The private rooms will have a series of activities all generations can enjoy.

The residents at the care home are missing out on needed interaction with family members, while the family members are lacking privacy and a reason to extend their stays

- An onsite cafe so that family members and residents can relax and connect in a more laid back environment. - Private rooms so that family members will have a quiet place to talk with residents. - Within private rooms, there will be activities that should encourage interaction between residents and the younger generation.

- This provides a pleasant atmosphere for both residents and family members that encourages interaction. - Provides privacy for family members that like more private conversations with residents - Starts to bridge in intergenerational gap so that families with younger children are inclined to stay longer

Family members will appreciate a different environment to take the residents to and the residents will apprieciate the change of scenery as well.

A café is built onsite, so that residents and family members have a place that has a pleasant atmosphere. This will encourage relaxation and potentially longer visits.

Many liked the idea of a café Thought it was an interesting idea that they hadn't seen done before regarding care homes Few said they would be worried about costs

Privacy for private conversations would be welcomed and would make the experience more wholesome.

Private rooms attached to the cafe, this encourages use and service from the cafe can be extended into the rooms.

Again this idea was greeted with positive feedback Consensus that they would like somewhere other then the residents rooms for privacy

The activities will provide the younger generations with entertainment and start interactions with the residents.

Activities (like board games or simple video games) will be located within the private rooms.

Family members that bring children agreed that they would like this and mentioned it would make staying longer easier

HOW DOES IT WORK?: This concept would work as a normal café would, providing beverages and food for customers. The private rooms will be an added feature to the cafe that can be accessed through the main dining area. HOW WILL IT BE DELIVERED?: The café should be built through the care home and it's investors and it should be run as an extension of the home, which will also provide jobs for the surrounding suburb.

WHO IS THE TARGET MARKET?: The target market is mainly family members, as they are coming from outside of the home. Residents also benefit because family members will extend staysto the care home HOW MUCH IS IT PRICED AT?: The café should aim to have normal pricing, and the sales from the café should benefit the care home. Private rooms may be free but charging for hire may benefit as a way to ensure no damage to the rooms is done.
