Students enrolled in this course should expect that coursework scheduling will remain constant under normal circumstances. However, due to outside forces beyond the control of faculty and/or staff at LCSC, students should be aware that schedule and delivery modalities may change throughout the semester. While course times and meeting days should remain the same (excluding class cancellations), delivery modalities (face-to-face, virtual remote, online, etc.) may change due to extenuating circumstances. When circumstances warrant, assignment due dates or changes to assignments may be made. The instructor will communicate such changes with students promptly. It is strongly recommended that students check their LCMail and Canvas accounts regularly to stay informed of the most current course information. Examples of extenuating circumstances include, but are not limited to inclement weather, natural disaster, localized power outages, lab equipment failures, local or state directives, or instructor obligations (community or college service, professional development, or injury/illness, etc.).
Methods of Instruction:
This course may have class sessions that are in class, remote delivery, and/ or online. PowerPoint presentations will be posted before the associated class session per Canvas – see Weekly schedule. Activities will occur during the classroom sessions.
Technology Requirements: Students are expected to have access to a computer and be able to complete basic computer skills such as creating a word document, PowerPoint presentation, and to take exams through technology means.
Attendance: Class Attendance is Mandatory. This class prepares you for the professional work setting. Therefore, attendance is expected in all classes, just as it is expected in the workplace. Students who do not attend class sessions (in class) will not be allowed to take the quiz at a later date. If students experience an illness or other situations that causes them to be unable to join their class session in person, they may contact their instructor to request a Zoom class link. If the student request is not made at least an hours prior to the start of the class session faculty may be unable to grant this request.
During any remote delivery video course sessions, video and audio must be turned on for all course participants. It is the expectation that attendees joining via Zoom have video-enabled.

Description of Assignments: 1. Yoder-Wise reading assignments The suggested reading from the Yoder-Wise textbook is recommended to better help students understand the information presented during the class sessions.
2. LaCharity reading assignments (NCLEX questions) The LaCharity reading assignments consist of all NCLEX type questions. Some of these NCLEX style questions may be on the weekly class quizzes, however, questions will be altered; thus, it is important to review the assigned LaCharity questions before the class sessions.
3. Online class session homework assignments
Homework assignments need to be submitted through Canvas (under Assignments): The slide presentations times vary. Students can go at their own pace by stopping and starting the narrative.
4. Resume assignments There are two resume assignments, Version 1 and 2. The information in the Resume and Interview PowerPoint presentations will assist with the resume assignments.
5. Symposium assignment (P/F) The Symposium assignment is the same assignment completed last semester in the NU 317 course. Handwritten assignments are acceptable. Turn in this assignment per Canvas or place it under my office door (SAC 224).
Description of Quizzes
Quizzes may be given anytime during each class session, however, any student who is not present during the quiz, or who arrives while the quiz is being administered, will not be allowed to take the quiz. The lowest quiz score will be dropped. The quiz questions may cover information from the assigned LaCharity questions or the Yoder-Wise assigned readings. The LaCharity NCLEX quiz questions will be altered; thus, it is important to understand the rationale for the question’s answers, rather than memorizing the right answers. Information from the Key Points, at the end of each weekly student PowerPoint presentation, may be included on the weekly quizzes.
