They wanted to make a company that would develop computer software. Microsoft started in Albuquerque, New Mexico and then they moved to Washington State in 1979 and grew into one of the largest multinational technology corporations in the world. In 1987 at age 31 years old Bill Gates became the youngest billionaire in the world. Gates and Allen started the company called Micro-soft, but shortly changed it to Microsoft. The company consisted of microprocessors and software. This would help produce software for the Altair 8800, which was one of the earlier computers. In 1986 the company moved to Redmond, Washington, which was near Bellevue and was worth twenty-one dollars a share and raised to $61 million. By the late 1980’s Microsoft became the world largest personal computer software company. In 1995, Windows 95 made its debut. Windows 95 included the Start Menu, other features, and seven million copies were sold within the first five week of when it was released. During the time of the release of Windows 95, the internet was starting to take off, and Microsoft showed the web browser, which was called Internet Explorer. In 2001, Microsoft starting to work with the video gaming industry and created the Xbox console, which was very successful.
