Description

Oxford day 3

On the schedule of day three stands famous attractions in England: Windsor Castle, cycling tour and Sheldonian Theatre. At 8 o’clock a buss will pick us up at our hotel the Luxe Modern Townhouse. An experienced guide is going to give us more information.

First the bus is going to stop at Windsor Castle. It is the largest fortification with an 800-yearold tower. It has been built in a privileged location and has magnificent garden. Queen Elizabeth spends all her weekends in this royal palace. We can explore the rooms, admire the works of art and visit St George’s Chapel. One of the interesting things is Queen Mary’s Doll House, a beautiful toy house which even had hot water and electricity.

Secondly the buss will stop in the center of oxford. There we will rent a bike so we can easily move around. Then we drive through historic Jericho and Port Meadow, along the Thames and the Oxford Canal, where Lewis Carroll began his story of 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland', where 'Lord of the Rings' author Tolkien lived.

We stop by bike at the monumental Sheldonian Theatre, it is known as the 'jewel in Oxford's architectural crown'. We are going to eat something from a food truck that stands there, fishdog. Brits love a good fish finger sandwich, so we are going to try it. Originally it was part of Oxford University, intended for lectures and special events. Nowadays it is only used for ceremonies and is open to the public. Concerts and conferences are also held there.

Unfortunately, after this it is time to go home. We will have a quick stop at the hotel to pick up our languages because we can’t miss our train at 7pm. The return will take about 5 hours in total if the train is not delayed....
