PARAPHRASE PRACTICE Directions: Below you will find some rather verbose sentences, somewhat like those one often finds in academic articles. Please get to the heart of the sentences and write paraphrases of each one directly below where it is printed. Remember that while you are trying to simplify the sentence, you must accurately represent what each person is saying (or trying to say). 1.
